Always liked JK but I would love to see Lambert as Celtic boss.

let him serve his apprenticeship elsewhere then manage us one day. our next manager should be lambert or moyes.i would say slaven bilic but i dont think bilic would touch us with barge pole anymore

Jk is a good man and who knows maybe someday he will be manager but right now we could do with a bit of experience, someone who could come in and steady the ship.

Big JK is a celtic man through and through, but there has been a few of those that went on to manage and failed, TB and NL spring to mind. However both are fantastic coaches.

I think in the next few years, get him on as a coach of the first team and see how he progresses. Excellent job with the youth's so far.

Good quote from him this morning:

“As well as having ability it’s important at Celtic to have character,” Kennedy added. “We lost a goal but the heads never went down, they quickly got back on track and took the game to Man City which is what we wanted.
“They didn’t go into their shell, they showed outstanding character to come back and kicked on to prove themselves.”

I think he'll be * brilliant & I really think he's already being earmarked for the big seat - bit like they did with Lenny.

Obviously he needs experience & has to develop contacts throughout the game...

But an awful lot of the best coaches, have stopped playing at an early age:

Davie Moyes & Jose Mourinho come to mind, maybe they think a wee bit differently because they've stopped playing & start to think about coaching at such a young age.

What would you base him being a * brilliant manager on?

If anything there are another 3 guys that have more experience within our academy set up.

Alex Ferguson, Jose Mourinho, Villas Boas, Bob Paisley, Guus Hiddink, Rinus Michels..... the list is endless.
Very average players (in the case of Mourinho and Villas Boas not professional players at all).
    So your point is bollocks.
Great players often make * managers.

What a stupid thing to say.

    In future tense of course.

I just really think he's got the intellegence & the communication skills to do well.

He's got a great work ethic & never say die attitude, he's also got his head firmly screwed on.

Reading interviews with him, especially his resignation & testimonial ones were absolutely heartwarming for me - he just seems to be an oldschool good values guy & in this modern football world in particular, I think that goes a very long way.

Call it a hunch + the "people" at Celtic clearly didn't want him to go, giving him umpteen chances - when they've let others go without much fuss at all.

He certainly has a big future with the club, whether as manager of in some other capacity, however I don't see that happening for a few years yet. There's no doubt though he's a leader, an intelligent bloke, good football knowledge and a real Celtic man, so all the attributes for Celtic manager.

Seen a few posts on here saying just because he's being groomed in the ranks wont make him good enough.
Think of arguably the best managers in world football.

Pep - managed the Barça B team and now look at him
Villas Boas - served as a scout to Mourinho now look.
Mourinho - again similar path as Villas Boas took.

Aslong as he's doing a good job with under 19s, he knows what to look for in players after working for us as a scout. Hes ticking all the right boxes, and i hope he goes on to do well in the next 5 or 6 years.

Interesting story about AVB, he lived in the same flat as Bobby Robson when he was manager at Porto. Boas was 13 or something and they had an argument about footy. Robson was suprised at how much Villas-Boas knew and how well he could speak English and offered him a job as a youth team coach or a scouting job or something. He made his way up and he was Mourinho assistant after that. Just beacause you didnt play at the highest level dose'nt mean you cant manage at it.

I love Celtic as much as anyone would claim and have followed them from I was the age of 4.

Would this put me in consideration for the managers post? Wouldn't think so.

Being aligned to the club and wearing your heart on your sleeve are not job criteria's for being appointed the Celtic managerial post.

Widely experienced, successful, intelligent, honest and a great eye for a player would be some of the characters I would be looking for. :shamrock:

I wouldn't want John Kennedy as manager either even though I love the big guy, but I wouldn't be totally against it either because I've always been of the opinion you don't need to be Pep Guardiola or Jose Mourinho to win with Celtic. I could have Celtic winning in the SPL. None of the managers are tactically clued up at all, and that includes both Old Firm managers.

It's just funny though, the "Celtic man" thing that people are mocking is the exact thing that's keeping the current manager in charge, so why mock people who even suggest Kennedy could be manager? Not Irish enough, is that it? Doesn't annoy the Huns as much therefore not elevating his status within the hardcore fans?
