    My dad's got 6 months to live and he's been saying for years that he wants 'Like a bat out of *' played at his funeral. Hope I can convince the lunatic otherwise.

    I think you have to go with it mate, you would regret it if you don't, sorry your having to go through such heartbreaking times, we went through it with my father in law 5 yrs ago as cancer took him, so hard to watch people you love slip away, be strong mate

    this is for a grandparent , i think its a beautiful song for whomever you've lost , on a sidenote , i.m really sorry for you mate about your dad . my prayers go out to you and your family. stay strong for him and soak up all the time you have left with him .

    I think it's harder to take the losing of a parent or any relative knowing in advance that they have a terminal illness.

    I would urge that their last wishes be respected though and you cherish every moment they have left with you.

    For my own part, i grew up playing this on my ma's old record player as a wean.....not really knowing anything about it until later years when i realised she bought it because it reminded her of her own father who was lost to ww2 when she was a wean.It came back loud and clear this year at her funeral;

    sorry to hear to about your da mate,my old man got told he had 6 months he lasted 10 months cherish every moment you have together bud.stay strong thoughts and prayers with you and your family at this difficult time .

    I haven't lost a parent but the song 'the old man' is quite an emotional one. Celtic thunder do a good cover.

    Sorry to hear your news but keeping telling your Da you love him as thats the mistake I made as I didnt tell ma da how much I loved him untill he was lying in his coffin in the restroom bhoy if we could turn the clock back just to tell him how much I loved him before he passed away .
