Exactly mate, its * shocking he's even bringing this up considering how * we've been for years. It's up to fans what should or shouldn't be sung.

You agree with that but you think saying 'RA' is unacceptable?

Singing about the PIRA is unacceptable, what do yo think the team get when they hear "PIRA" nothing probaly a little embarrassed. It certainly dosent spur them on.

On the other hand the songs about the old Ira are no sectarian bu are about old battles like Oh Flower of Scotland!

But we don't sing songs about the British Army. What have they to do with it? Nothing. It's not a debate about the goings-on in Derry, Armagh or Belfast or anywhere else. It's about our songbook.

Ignorant for a reason. Not everyone who attends a football match, watches one on TV or reads about it online or in a paper will have read up on the PIRA/IRA and know the difference.
Not everyone cares to know the difference, but everyone knows it was the IRA vs the Brits and a version of them that blew up town centres in this country.

The sooner people realise that not everyone has a degree in Irish History & Politics the better!

Anyway... those who want to sing them will and those who don't, won't.

I think that song despite it's original word would be better if it was 'OOh ah up the Celts'. Plus there is no way of knowing which RA it's referring to. Some are clear, some are not.

Good!! It is highly embarrassing and cringe worthy!!

So your fine with Rangers fans singing whatever they like? As they also pay so I guess they too should be allowed to sing whatever they like?!

So he’s fine with 'Boys of The Old Brigade', 'Sean South', 'Merry Ploughboy', 'Broad Black Brimmer' etc...

    Good.

Because I like singing them and will continue to sing them.

There are a group of our fans who will continue to sing these songs, and a group who want them to stop singing these songs. No matter how many threads on here are of that topic, we are going round and round in circles and getting absolutely nowhere. Just repeating ourselves over and over again.

Until there is a list of songs handed out to every fan detailing what is and what isn't allowed, then they will continue. Some will still continue even after being told what is not acceptable.

How to stop it? I have no clue, because I don't ever see club's being docked points, so on that note, I don't see it stopping.

This means we will continue to see threads like this, and the one the other day, and the one the day before that, all discussing the same stuff.

    We are getting nowhere.

Just have to say Lawson didn't bring this up. It was asked at the Agm and Lawson replied in saying that PiRA chants are not acceptable at football. So to call for his head by simpl answering a question is ridiculous

This isn't really up for debate.

The club has previously asked the fans not to sing the songs. Lawell is now saying it again.

There's really only one view to follow here. The clubs view.

The club has asked us not to sing them, so for those of you who claim you love celtic but will also sing the songs "cuz ah can day whit ah want ah paid ma pennies", respect the clubs decision and fall in to line.

    * up Lawwell you waste of space, the fact you've run a club that have lost 3 years in a row to a * poor hun side is embarassing.

The fact you've done more penny pinching than the huns have is embarassing.

The fact that you brought in the worst manager I've ever seen at Celtic (mowbray) is embarrassing.
