He got looked at before with Wolves and never got a look in. IMO he is still third choice behind Cole and Bridge so unless both these players are out he wont get much of a chance.

I also think if he gets a game it will be like the Thompson situation. Get thrown in at the deep end and struggle to perform.

Cole and Bridge ARE both out of the Israel game. He must get a call up to the squad, even if only because there is not other obvious candidate.

BUT I doubt he'd play, McClaren will probably use Carragher at left back.

it's a joke if he doesn't get a call up. The first and second choice left back's are injured, and they are talkin about puttin micheal carrick in midfield?

the english would never have it, a guy that plays his foty in scotland playing for england. remember how much they used to get onto hargreaves and he played in germany. he deserves it though, but mcclaren wont do it

i don't think he will get in, although i hope he does. because he plays in scotland, the english will just rate him as an average player and not worth getting a call up

shocking that mclaren cannae even notice a decent left back. well f.o mclaren you've got a worse record than sven gorran eriksoon. do i have to go on. i hope he gets humped by israel, and when he does naylor can stick the fingers rite up to him. carrager or phil neviller at left back, o my if thats wat will get the england supporters excited then no wonder they think they can win the world cup. maybe if mclaren bothered to get his fat lazy * down to scotland, he would see how good naylor is, well its his loss. u keep picking pi#h players for england mclaren. scotland are only seven places behind you. watch yer back:47: RANT OVER.

tbf naylors never going to get near the england team

he wasn't playing in the premiership before he moved to you and now is playing against poor opposition regularly, mclaren will look at this and then see quite a few quality left backs playing regularly in the premiership and pick them first.

barry, baines and shorey are all/will be better full backs

barry usually plays on the wing, but when he plays at full back its at a very high standard thus is why he is in the squad. Hes got versatility on his side as he can play CB CM and LB and LM, and has the nessecary quality attacking and defensively.

baines IMO isn't better than naylor at the moment, but hes young and looks as though he will surpass naylor in the future

shorey is only in his first season in the big league, so i can see why he isn't being considered, if he repeats his high quality performances next season i can see him definatly being considered for england, when theres injuries that is.

It's england so I could care less. But not picking Naylor given that Cole and Bridge are both out shows the usual english arrogance when looking at the spl.

I dont see what all the fuss is about, he was a solid Championship full back, he made the jump to the SPL no problem. IMO he hasnt really proved he is ready for a place in the England squad. He was top class in the CL no one would deny that but he isnt going to get watched week in week out all season by England scouts. This would only happen coming up to a game, if he has been watched recently by anyone involved with the England setup then what exactly would he have shown to them? His performances of late have not been to the high standard he has produced at certain points of the season. People can call it English arrogance but if he were an Italian playing in Greece this would be the exact same situation.

He is not in any long term plan, if he were to get called up it would be for the a short term fix. Maybe he is more natural in that position than anyone else that will play in that position but I dont think that is always the best way to pick a squad. Play the players you expect to play in another year or two not the ones you dont.

its not really, its more of unfitting the square peg in the round hole, and replacing it with a round peg.

when the squad was first announced he had earmarked carragher and p neville as the left backs, both right footed and better at right back, now the original right back has been injured carragher will now move to right back, and hopefully barry - a player comfortable at left back will start there instead.
