Mark Wilson

Most players coming to a big club from a smaller one usually play well to start with.

I think its to do with psychology, if you put st mirren in celtic tops and let them play at parkhead for a month their results would improve coz they would start to believe in themselves.

Same with Wilson when he moved, played well to start with coz of the "celtic effect" as do most new signings.

The challenge comes when they have to not only sustain the initial form but improve their all over game.

He surely deserves another season to show what he's all about. I think he can do it.

 

admittedly mark wilson has dissapointed me no ends this season, his distrubution and and overall play has been average at best. maybe just maybe hes more suited to the left back slot like a certain denis irwin and o'shea who seemed to perform much better on the left side for some reason. sometimes when playing on the opposite side a full back can have the advantage in shackling the winger to come inside on his wrong foot and from what ive seen of wilson his main strength seems to be his tackling on the deck not his movement and crossing so when playing right full his indifferent crossing ability is shown up more.

saying all that its early days for wilson and he has plenty of time to improve his distribution and an injury free pre-season will do him the world of good,, at the minute id pick telfer everytime as naka if nothing else seems to appreciate telfers forward running and gets move space as a result

 

Telfer is definitely leaving in the summer. Wilson hasn't had more than 4 games in a row all season. Let him get the game time and he'll come good. He's still only 22.
