    More on the injured 18-year-old Accrington player Tom Bender, on-loan from Colchester. He collided with Accrington goalkeeper Ian Dunbavin and Tranmere's Lucas Akins, was treated for 30 minutes with oxygen and was on a drip before he left in an ambulance

    * *!

    Seems odd - matches don't usually get abandoned because of injury. According to the BBC it was abandoned 28 mins after half-time. Seems they didn't restart after the interval. Nothing more on SSN.

    Bender in stable condition
    Tom Bender is in a stable condition in hospital after being injured in this evening's game with Tranmere.

    The 18-year-old was stretchered off following a collision in the first half of the match and treated on the pitch before an ambulance arrived.

    The match was subsequently abandoned and the thoughts of everyone at the club are with Tom and his family.

    Further updates will be published here when we get them.

    Looked a * sore one, he was basically sandwiched and the back of his head was rattled with the defenders knee.

    Both sets of players apparently too shook up to play on.

    "Accrington Stanley defender Tom Bender is being kept in hospital overnight for observation after he was stretchered off in tonight's game with Tranmere.

    Stanley Chief Executive Rob Heys has been to visit the 18-year-old.

    "Tom is now fully conscious," he said. "He has been for a scan which has come back as normal."

    "He is severely concussed and is being kept in overnight for medical staff to keep an eye on him, but he's stable and that's great news."

    The Johnstone's Paint Trophy match was abandoned earlier this evening after the youngster was hurt."

    Hope he recovers, terrible thing to happen to anyone.
