Players more than Lennon should be blamed, let alone the board.

Wish people would stop banging on about players like Bellamy, he's on something like 90k a week it was never going to happen.

Tha manager should be motivating the players and dropping the ones that are not doing it

I would cut the wages by 50% and give them the other 50% as a win bonus, that will motivate them

Bellamy and Given, you are in dream land. Their wages are impossible to match for us.

Lennon got his number one target 'keeper, he said that when Forster signed.

We could have got Wilson earlier because Nottingham had no use for him.

We should maybe have paid the money to get Wilson early but again, how do you know this decision wasn't taking by Lennon and by the board?

Any chance he wasn't impressed buy this striker in Portugal or are you just going to assume the board didn't want to splash out on him? Edit: Actually work permit was the problem.

It's all too easy to blame the board when we're trailing behind. I'm not blaming Lennon either, I'm just saying that it's a possibility because we may never know who is actually to blame.

    to answer your questions briefly:

    1. bellamy never wanted to come here and we couldnt afford the wages
    2. read above
    3. we made our bid, it was outbid by another club, we didnt go back in (thats how transfers work)
    4. we attempted to secure wilson in january but billy davies refused to do business (cause he's a currant bun)
    5. diawarra deal was done but we couldnt get a work permit. no penny pinching, just no work permit

    any other questions?

They don't sign the players but there budget does determine who Lennon can sign.we needed 3 big players,a striker, centre half and a goally.we ended up with a decent LOAN keeper,a free transfer centre half who couldn't get into nottm Forrest team and a striker who def wasn't Lennys top 2 or 3 targets for that position.as usual we signed a couple of youngsters who to be fair look decent.if that's not a manager working with his hands tied then I don't know what is.lawwell has alot to answer too

Bellamy never wanted to come from day 1 yet they all kept bullshitting saying the deal wasn't dead.Lenny included.the deal for the keeper was all but done but Celtic were stalling waiting for the LOAN keeper to go through.lets not be fooled if we had bought the keeper we would have loaned a striker cos the budget wasn't there.that was a good move from Lenny.as for the work permit it was reported everywhere that the deal fell through for that reason yet the department of work said they never received an application.once again the cheap option came through

The truth is there is no smoke without fire, we always get big promises from the board every year and then we always just miss out on our top targets. Are we being fooled or is it just bad luck?

    * me... it's not unique to Celtic! Ask any fan of another club and they'll tell you that their board promised more than they eventually delivered! Even the really big hitters!

No point blaming the board, they don't care, they're doing a good job in their eyes and realistically they're doing a good job too. I'm sure that the CB problem was probably very high on the priority list during the summer window. The problem is luring players to CP on English 1st division wages. Quality costs money, as we all know, we simply don't have the money to buy quality players. Our good players are solid players but are miles from world class or even top half prem quality. Would you rather see the club in a horrible financial position as long as we had lower prem standard players.

We may be a club with a proud history, the thing is, it is history. We need to operate within our means and the league we are in.

Just support what we have and the * we bring in, they're still wearing the shirt. No players play for the love of the shirt these days, just be happy that they're playing for their wages.

The board and Lenny are equally to blame as I see it. The board for giving Lenny limited funding, they should have upped the budget and secured the title this season ensuring a chance for Champions league income next season. Lenny for not spending HIS limited budget wisely. Centre back was more of a priority over striker, and it is really telling. The defence is the weakest we have had for many a season. The reason the Huns are digging out results is because they have a decent defence. As already said Fat Sally spent £2m on two defenders, not lost a game in the league. Lenny £2.2m on a striker and still hasn't scored.
