What contradiction are you referring too ? I don't see any contradiction in the Celtic Board racking up a £9M debt ? I did not suggest we spend more money in my OP. There is such as prudent budget keeping and investing in the future of the club. Read my OP more carefully please, we did not invest in WGS's final year, that error of judgement cost us 4IAR, and is currently setting Rangers now up for 4IAR * forbid. The appointment of a loser like Tony Mowbray and the subsequent money wasted in hiring Mowbray and his coaching staff, and then in compensation to dispense with his services cost us millions of pounds, again another error of judgement by the Celtic Board, the appointment of a complete novice like Neil Lennon may soon again place us in another financial black hole, the loss of three leagues in a row cost us an enormous amount of revenue in Champion's League monies.Allowing Rangers to get 4IAR under this present Celtic Board would be unforgivable.

no ones asking for tens of millions too be spend but i just think too hand neil a budget of £2 million to strengthen a team which needed a cb, lb, gk, and a striker is ridiculous especially after the fans backed the squad for the whole of last season the take us for granted.

FFS,the Govan mob have no money and we still cannot win the league. If you are concerned about debt join a fanancial institution. We are Celtic and want to win things. We should not except second best especially when the Govan mob have major debt problems.

We dont need to spend 9m to win the league just buy players who are decent.

My season ticket is more expensive now than when MON was here and we have a lower calibre of player on lower wages, explain that one!!

People seem to think a few millions and we will get back into the CL,i think we are atleast 30 million away from getting into the CL each season and all that would be spent in defence.
We are playing in the europa by pure luck and even there clubs are spending tens of millions on sigle players.
Celtic are so * far from the cash needed for europe its unreal.

Over the course of years/time things get dearer, more expensive ie milk and bread cost less a couple of years ago than what it does today :56:

They seem to be puting the price up on everything, must be a credit crunch some were

You get in there before me williebad, was to busy hunting for the price of a loaf or a bottle a milk from the oneil years to compare :50:

He asked for that 1 but :56::56::56:

I have faith in them to keep the club on a financial footing, live within our means and keep us out of the red.

Unfortunately that means third-tier signings, a cheap option as manager and a struggle to win the SPL or compete in the second-rate European competition.

If we are ever going to move on to the next level it would take a major investment or a lucrative SPL TV deal, but who is gonna invest in the SPL or an SPL side?

It's possible to be in a very good financial condition AND win trophies at the same time. Especially in the SPL against micky mouse opponents.

Not enough silverware against a poor rangers side in the past 3 years.

Players, Managers etc get questioned, also our board has to take a piece of the blame.

Nup none :38: I mean we have * all money, are in shitloads of debt, have our funds ringfenced at the bank, been publically humiliated on numerous ocassions by taxman visits, our previous employees are taking us to the cleaners and when we lose our impending tax cases we are going to the wall.

How could the board do this to us?

How can anyone have confidence in that shower?

If their jobs were on the line in terms of success like the last few managers, then maybe they'd care a bit more and sign a better quality of player.

The board may have made the odd mistake, sometimes that have proven quite costly infact. However the board also have a responsibility to ensure the Celtic are around for generations to come. We don't want to be in a position like we were almost 20 years ago, or like what the current buns are facing now, or any number of clubs, north and south of the border, are going through.

Can anyone else not sense that there is something far more curious happening in the football stratosphere? The subtle shifts & various intrigues are building to something else. If I were to hazard a guess, the board are deducing the likely course of these & how to make them work in our favour. Until these seismic shifts occur, I dare say that the board are simply maintaining a conservative approach with it's dealings.

We are only successful off the park at the moment, and for a Celtic supporter, that is not exactly enjoyable.

As much as they are doing a fantastic job keeping the debt down, this is a football team we are supporting, and we expect to see trophies.

They have had opportunities, without breaking the bank, over the past 3-4 season's, and as far as I'm concerned they have failed the manager and the fans.

We've been crying out for central defence cover since before McManus and Caldwell, and a goalkeeper since Boruc left. Neither positions fill me with confidence, and it is down to the board. Managers have given names of players who they wanted to fill these positions, and have failed at almost every attempt.

Far too much emphasis is put onto off-field success for me.

i agree paul im sick of us going on about how were in a good financial position.

we all laugh at rangers being skint but them winning 3 titles in a row after all thier troubles is criminal.

we need a bit of a gamble in the transfer market weve been buying players for ages who might come good but havnt. theres not been much coming out of lenox town apart from forrest either

we should follow the mon mould of building from the back we need a couple of decent defenders that the team can have confidence in.

i think we have a decent enough attack but we need to sort the back in jan. we NEED to win the title this year
