Be difficult to earn anything when you're injured.

He really needs to be playing or training really well, and pushing the first teamers for a place. the last thing we need is a senior player who is always injured collecting a wage.

Even if he never ever plays for us again having him around Lennoxtown is important. A squad needs senior players around the place if even so just some the young lads can come to them with things they dont want to come to management about. He is also a lifelong fan and can give a few a metaphorical toe up the hole if needed. Not giving him a new contract is just stupid.

Would be interesting if ye added a poll to see who wants Charlie to stay and who wants him to go.

Am not fussed about him staying or going, he'd be cover for cb and obviously has experience. As long as he's not playing in midfield, he's so * slow and past his peak if you ask me. He's only going to get more injuries now.

I hope you two are having me on. If fit Charlie is an asset as cover in mnay positions. If not can you not see the value in having a player like him around the place? I'm deadly serious having more old heads around the place is vital not getting rid of them.

you seem to be stuck in the past, what with the whole stokes saga that you went on about, now mulgrew.

The club has moved on from 2010/2011, just accept it.

What an odd way to look at it. There is nothing "stuck in the past" about offering a versatile experienced good player at his peak a new contract.

I'll never understand the resistance to doing things properly on here. How can people want someone of Charlie's cut to leave the club especially as we badly lack experience?

Not giving him a new deal can only harm the club. There is no benefit to our football squad to let him leave. None whatsoever. You would swear he is in his 40's the way people are going on. I will never ever understand why people would want a proven reliable player to leave the club when we can get years of use out of him.

I would keep him just so we can keep singing Charlie Mulgrew he hates the Huns song! That alone is worth a wage. :50:
Even in the memory of that header he screwed in off the ground whilst every filthy scum defender admired his abilities.:celt_2:

Mulgrew as long as he's happy to be a bit part player can only benefit the club by staying. He's massively experienced in domestic campaigns, Europe, big games, matches v Huns and so on aswell as knowing the club inside out.

He can cover multiple positions and will have a positive impact on younger players.

He can't be more than 30. Plenty use for him yet.

Offering him a coaching role for 1/10th the wages if it's just to have him 'around the place' then. He's a decent back up for centre half and midfield but he won't be 1st,2nd or 3rd choice so he's just more deadwood in and around the first team.

We need to trim the squad down. Get shot of guys that are keeping the young lads from playing in the development squad and clear some wages to actually strengthen our starting 11.

I'd keep Mulgrew as cover for CB.

    Sviatchenko, Simunovic, Boyata, Mulgrew.

I was saying that to prove a point he will play and may even work his way back into the team at some stage. Trim the squad fair enough but why trim a proven CL and POTY? Getting rid of him for untested youth just stop. I cant understand the lack of logic from people on here. Getting rid of a proven CL player Jesus Christ like i'll never know.

He's had his day, just like Stokes & Lenny. If it was up to you Wee Jimmy that sits in 412 would get a game because he's a Celtic fan :smiley-laughing002:

We need better than guys like Mulgrew, Armstrong, Stokes, Cole etc. Trim the squad down and bring in 2/3 better quality players. A solid defensive midfielder, a decent winger and a striker that can actually give Griffiths a challenge.
