In its best years, was The Simpsons the greatest show of all time? I honestly believe it was, from about Season 3-8. Untouchable, it's a real shame that they're now getting to the stage where there are more bad episodes than classics. But at it's best, for me, it's the greatest show ever.

the thing is the people behind 'the simpsons' don't know know when to call it quits. i used to watch the show all the time when i was younger and i can't even tell you how many times they redid the same theme/conflict in different episodes.

they should have ended the show when they started futurama and ended futurama as soon as they started it.

Was top drawer back in the day, still watch it now right enough when thers nothing else on. The latest Family guy serious isnt as good as earlier ones either. I prefer south park to either of them and the last serious of that was dire.

I'd say 2-11 were good for The Simpsons

With a couple of exceptions here and there

    The * film was dire

Used to watch it all the time but its just not the same for me anymore. At times im watching it and it feels like a childrens cartoon and i feel a bit sad. South Park has now overtaken it for me now.

I watched the one that came out last week (it was brilliant) - think there will be another one available on the web in an hour or so.

It was the original that spawned the rest. Used to watch it with the whole family after dinner.

Gets a bit * after you've seen every episode 14 times right enough.

Family Guy is funny for about 5 minutes, those old Simpsons series will be funny forever.

I agree, and that's a big difference for me between Simpsons and lots of other shows, especially Family Guy. Family Guy has no re-watch factor, once you've watched an episode once, it won't be watchable the second time. The best Simpsons episodes, I can never get sick of. My favourites would have to be:

    • Frank Grimes (Homer's Enemy)
    • Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show
    • Homer's Phobia (where he hates the gay man the family warm to)
    • Power Plant Softball Team (Homer at the Bat)
    • Who Shot Mr.Burns, both parts
