In 2008, Rangers beat us 4-2 at Parkhead, whilst Boruc was in goal, so does that mean Boruc wasn't "worth his salt"?

A goalkeeper needs to command his box especially his 6 six yard box at corners or any other set pieces. For some reason Big Foster is very reluctant to come for cross balls. He doesent seem to be a good organiser and cannot kick a ball that far.

Padrew is an * who was trying to get a transfer fee for Foster. If he thinks he is that good why did he give him back to us then go out and buy another keeper.

Foster is making our defence worse.

Our defence will never be settled or confident when we have a keeper who doesn't command his area. Good GK's are always vocal and everyone around them know exactly where they stand. FF is a decent shotstopper, but so are some pretty poor keepers. Being Celtic GK isn't about being a shotstopper, it's about concentration whilst being unocccupied for most of the game and always promoting confidence to the players in front of him. I don't believe that FF is that man and his indecision causes uncertainty right along our back four, who aren't that good to begin with.

In the paper today that Gordon isn't getting a new contract at Sunderland unless he proves his fitness.

Completely agree with this, sums up the situation.

Wait? It's Fraser Forster's fault that the CB's infront of him are so gash?

And the point about concentration; he had one save to make on the weekend. It came late in the game from a header around 4 yards out. He made the save, a fantastic save actually.

That sums up his concentration for me.

No, but a GK needs to talk to his defenders and alert them to danger, Forster doesn't do this enough, this goes for good and bad defenders, i used to be hoarse at the end of games but it helped everyone in front of me.

have u seen a handsome hun
for me the problem with forster is that he doesnt stop as many chances as his predecessor did.
if our opposition get a chance its usually a goal....he doesnt make enough match winning saves in the way mr boruc did.
tho i accept he has made some very good saves this season he does seem to be a bag of nerves... but who can blame him when the keystone cops are the defenders in front of
him. i would have to add tho that i believe he is the most suspect goalkeeper i have seen play for celtic. why this giant of a man doesnt come and collect anything thats thrown into our box is baffling. he needs to grow a pair and accept that once in a while he's gonna take a sore one. man up son...man up.

Aye, I know what you mean there. I like my keepers vocal too, I think that will come with a bit more experience.

However I in no way blame Fraser Forster for the shambles infront of him. He needs to play behind a defence he is confident in and vice versa.

    Some embarrassing comments here.

Forster is a good goal-keeper with a shaky defence in front of him.

Again, I didn't hear many complaints when he smashed our clean-sheet record.

Don't see why you're embarrassed, it's constructive criticism and most of it is on the money.

How are they embarrasing? People may have different views in him than you.

You didn't hear many complaints when HE smashed our clean sheet record?

Sorry I didn't realise this was FraserForster F.C.

This is CELTIC FOOTBALL CLUB, it is a team game - you and others speak of this clean sheet record as if it was only Forster who was playing ......there are players in the team who do a job in front of the keeperwho contributed...or are they forgotten?

This is the thing that confuses me, we are often reminded we have a very gash defence and a very gash goalkeeper according to people on here.

How in the * did all the cleansheets happen?

Exactly and it does my head in. Clean sheets have to be analysed in a wider context.

Wonder how many clean sheets Forster would get if our midfield consisted of Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas, Busquets and Messi. Probably about 35 in a season. That'd all be down to Forster, yes?

Forster is an average Goalkeeper imo, his reactions are poor and seems reluctant to dive, i see him watching the ball as it goes by him flat footed. For a tall guy he doesnt command his area and his overall reach should mean he should claim most high balls into the box. I also dont believe he is vocal enough, he needs to direct the defence as he should be seeing the runs by opposing attack. I think we could have done a bit better in this position if we had spent a liitle money...The spine of the team is the most important area look at our friends across the city McGregor, Goian, Davis or Naismith and Jelavic...team plays around them. Our spine lacks a backbone ie goalkeeper and commanding centre back. Just my opinion

What happened to Marshall anyway, he seemed to be the next big thing at one stage?
