Hope whatever club he goes to utilises his obvious talent more than Celtic did.

If he was that good why didn't he start, then?

Our best player since Larsson, if we lose him it could cost us a CL group stage place next year.

Should have been given more time.

Great player, will be sad to see him go.

Do you think Lennon always plays the right players? I'm not saying Paddy merits a starting position, but I don't think he has been given a fair crack of the whip either. How many times does he come off the bench when we are chasing the game with very little time remaining? Then fans expect him to turn the game round in 10mins! Motherwell away was a prime example! He come on with 15mins to play, and there was a queue on here waiting to slaughter him. Bearing in mind that we were getting gubbed and nobody except from perhaps Tony Watt were wanting on the ball. That's what annoys me about some fans, they will happily slag McCourt for trying something that doesn't come off, but players who go into a shell and are not interested are sometimes exempt from criticism.

He deserved a lot more game time IMO

But there must have been something up with him fitness wise for him to play so little as he was genuinely a good player when he came on.

    Sum * anaw :50:

One of us who played for the club for 5 years, scored some of the best goals ever scored in a Celtic jersey, guy is a cult hero.

Best move for both parties though.

Our last three managers hardly played McCourt. You can't seriously think all three of them - who would see McCourt play on a daily basis - somehow managed to overlook his supposed 'talent'.

Where to even start with the "slaughtering" claim? Paddy McCourt could * walk onto the centre of the park at Celtic Park wearing a Newco Rangers top and still get applauded - he can do no wrong in some people's eyes! Only a small minority give him the rightful criticism he deserves.

Do I even comment on the part about McCourt not being allowed to try something fancy? For * sakes he must lose the ball at least 20 times in the short time he gets to waddle about the pitch! "Unlucky Paddy, not your fault" is the usual cry when he's on the field.

    Complete overrated dud.

For every successful dribble there were tens, if not more, attempts, where he'd just put his head down and slow us down or lose the ball. Bit part player at best, who for some reason got glorified by some far more than his contribution ever merited.

The 'Don't sell McCourt' song was cringey as * compared to how slated some players are week in, week out despite contributing far far more than McCourt ever has.

    Good luck Paddy.

Ultimately wasn't good enough but deserves to be remembered fondly and with no ill feeling.

    Someone’s very bitter.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

You may as well have ended that vicious post with 'The Famine is over Paddy, so go home'.

McCourt wasn’t given enough time by any of the managers. He did, however, show on many occasions when he started, that he was a world-class dribbler who could score wonder goals.

Our squad is worse without him.

So i'm guessing you didn't like him much?

Did you come on the Motherwell thread from a few weeks back? I can assure you, that small minority of folk who criticise him is bigger than you think. The point i'm making, when he comes on, the game is all but gone, the team have usually been very poor, and nobody wants on the ball. In that situation, I won't get on anyones back, if they take it upon themselves to want the ball and is willing to try and haul us back into the game. I would much rather see that than a player scared to try something. And I can assure you, that has happened a fair few times this season domestically.

Why the * would I say that? What has the * famine got to do with me not rating a footballer as highly as others?

    Get a grip, fool.

Your anti-McCourt posts are often dripping with anti-Irish sentiment.

There we go again, a prime example of "Everyone is agaisnt us, I'm so offended" Irish brigade.

I am by no means anti Irish. In fact, I think Ireland is a wonderful place. Just a fair few of you Irish boys seem to have a strange idea that every man and their dog has a vendetta agaisnt Ireland.

I don't rate Landon Donavon either - I'll remember in future not to post anything negative about him. Wouldn't want someone accusing me of mocking 9/11..

McCourt was knocked back by Motherwell because of his fitness levels before we signed him. He's shown a few flashes of skill and suchlike, but he was nowhere near consistent, or fit, enough for a club like Celtic.

Good luck for the future and all that though.
