Your favourite Old Firm games and why?

Whats your favourite OF games so far and why? Excluding the obvious ones like 7-1, 5-1 & 6-2 etc. It doesnt have to be a total pumping, just ones that always stick out for you for some reason, maybe one was your first OF game or something?

Theres a few that I, and probably we all, could pick from, but here's 3 that i'll always remember :icon_mrgreen:

29 April 2001 - R*ngers 0-3 Celtic

The last OF game of the treble winning season that saw Lubo tearing them a new one & also saw Henrik getting his 50th goal of the season, and if it couldn't get any better, it was at ipox as well.

12 February 2006 - R*ngers 0-1 Celtic

Most people wont remember this game off the top of the head, but I will because this was my first OF game :icon_mrgreen: Fantastic day, fantastic atmosphere, i'll never forget it. Outnumbered by about 40-odd thousand huns, but as per usual, all you could here was us singing for 90 minutes

20 February 2011 - Celtic 3-0 R*ngers

Unlike the last game above, most people will remeber this game, and will remember it for a long time. It was one of those "I was there" moments. Played off the park, and well and truly pumped. It's not often there is such a one-sided OF game, but this was one of them. But the score isn't the only thing people will remember about this game, the atmosphere was first class, I had never seen anything like it before.

If there is one single game that you can say is your favourite then great :icon_mrgreen: but, if you cant pick just one, then knock yourself out, pick as many as you want!

The 6-2 game.
Was quite young, never even watched the game.
Was my sisters birthday and the cousins where round and we where listening to the radio.

one of the most exciting games ive ever watched

 

Celtic 2-0 Huns. Celtic Park, March 17th 1991.
Celtic 3-0 Huns. Celtic Park, March 24th 1991.

The fact that we were * back then made gubbing those * twice in a week all the better.

 

Just watched that match. forgot just how good it really was.

how good were the quality of crosses from the full backs!! top drawer!

 

My favorite old firm game is simple , its the NEXT ONE !

 

The 6-2 game for obvious reasons but the VoH winner in the 2-1 game was perhaps the most exciting and satisfying.

 

i always remember this one as it was live not just on bbc scotland but the whole bbc; rab douglas with two awful howlers but larsson's first goal was a thing of beauty

my favourite recent one was the 1-0 game in the cup, watched it in mchuills with my mates after a heavy drinking sesh all day long and seeing the huns lose the plot like that was hilarious (though of course as far as the SFA was concerned, only Lenny was to blame )

mentioned above but the 3 3 game is the one the will always stick in my head as being the absolute best. Was just a brilliant game with so much talent on the park from both sides.

 

My fave was the 4-2 game midweek at the old CP I was in the Jungle when ten men won the league.

The 1980 Cup final, don't remeber too much about it except when we scored my dad jumped out of his chair and punched the air only to smash the lightbulb and lightshade to pieces :icon_mrgreen: Then picked me up and jumped around the living room, never forget my mums face as she popped her head in from the kitchen to see what the * was going on!

Also the game in november '88, was my first game against the scum, won 3-1 after being a goal down only for butcher to score a cracking diving header for us Remember too watching the highlights later and Archie Macphersons commentary of the goal "it's all pushing and shovelling in there, Oh it's a goal!" What a way with words he has.

The Samaras game and 3-2 during the 3IAR season.

 

5-1 game was my first Celtic vs huns match at CP. Was amazing. To score 5 goals and basically * on them for 90 minutes was classic.

6-2 game, again pumped them and it was sunny, and obviously Henrik scoring THAT goal.

Another favourite of mine was maybe when we beat them in the cup and Maloney scored that cracker. Was jsut out the hospital after months and it was just great to be back at CP.

Recently, last season's 2-0 at ibrox and 3-0 at CP was really top drawer stuff. In a way it got us out of a rut and we played some great stuff.

Mine is the game at Ibrox last year when Samaras scored twice. The first and still only win over the huns I have seen live. Lets hope that statistic changes on the 18th.
