We play Athletico on Thursday night and the Manky Mob on Sunday Afternoon and I would expect us to set up in more or less the same way for both games, depending on injuries of course.

We all remember last year at Ibrox in Jan when we had 6-7 first team players missing and went on to win the game. I think playing our first team against Athletico and risking injury is a risk worth taking. Any kind of positive result over there would be a massive confidence boost in the SPL and we only have a chance if we play our strongest side.

I am not suggesting we play reserves in every europa game. But I think the toughest away fixture a few days before an old firm should be an exception. Looking at our past record I honesty dont think we have any less of a chance playing our reserves. And I think we could get pumped playing either team.

Part of playing in Europe is the ability to rotate when needed. This is something we see all the top teams doing regularly. We have a big enough squad now that we can field two teams if we need to. I would rest the lot for this one and see if the reserves can surprise us

There would be mutiny if lenny turned round to players and said he was not going to play them against a massive team like atletico madrid.

Ohhhh, Diego plays for them now. Good player.

I believe we can do this though!

Think we should play like this:

    Forster

    Cha - K. Wilson - Mulgrew - Matthews

    Kayal - Ledley

    Brown - Ki - Forrest

    Hooper

Forrest over Commons because of his pace. We'll need that on counters.

Hooper up top. Just our best striker:50: And will mostly score every chance he gets.

sion seem to think that no matter what happens, that they will play atletico on the 15th as the appeal process drags on after that.... i have no doubt in my mind that we will be reinstated after uefas decision but this remark by sion would be quite alarming if i have booked my flights to spain..... What happens for example of sion do play aletico and aletico win...... then we are reinstated officially , does that mean we have to have a repla :S

theres nothing offical through the bookmakers or even on uefas site in reference to updated group tables or fixtures

I wouldn't worry about it. Sion will not be playing anyone in Europe this season.

UK time kick-off is 8:05pm while the Rangers game the following Sunday is a 12:30pm kick-off, Atletico match is live on ESPN/ESPN HD (UK only, unsure about Irish coverage for those it concerns) & Rangers match is live on Sky Sports 2/HD2.

I'll be surprised if we get anything out of this game but the fact that we won't be expected to do much means we can go there and play without any pressure on us. Hopefully that will work to our advantage.

Could be a harsh score. Don't fancy seeing falcao up against our defence!

Can't see us getting anything, lets face it, they will pass, control and move far better than us and we just have to put this match down to a learning curve, just hope we don't get a tanking.

Just happy to be involved. :icon_mrgreen:

I don't know why but I'm starting to get quite a good feeling about this match, maybe a last minute equaliser to draw 1-1 ? :50:
