Nothing has changed officially but we're still interested in the guy obviously.

Their president said we'd have first refusal on him in jan, So here's hoping we get this done. Ihave a good feeling about this one. :50:

I can just see some * EPL team coming in for him in January as well totally, not even interested in a bidding war, they'll just completely outbid us when it really wouldn't take much more than £3m to beat us off.

While I would be delighted if we signed him, where do we fit him in? Stokes and Hooper have a fantastic partnership and are both scoring goals, so it would be very unfair to drop either of them. Maybe a sort of 4-3-3 with a front 6 of
    Kayal Wanyama Ledley
    Stokes Diawara Hooper
Though of course that would mean no Forrest, Commons or Brown.

Would have to be Diawara/hOOper for me. The target man and the box striker would be the best I think.

Maybe if Sammy was to leave we could try Stokes on the left? Doesn't have Sammy's pace though which sucks.

I think hOOper is a better investment than Stokes as well.

looks like theres still some activity surely???????????

I think it just might happen i mean its not like we're in any massive debt crisis. I realise our board is stingy as * and only want to sell * shirts but jasus I think they realise how important this title is???????

Thing I'm concerned with is I really really beleive we have a good thing going here with stokes and hooper like and I think it can only get better surely? Theyre both young Bhoys and no where nears their full potential. Could we have two legends on our hands?? I know some must be holdign back laughter but just think for a minute. Stokes is all of 23, Hooper just 23 as well. I think they play incredibly well together and breaking that up might not have the best effect for us in the course of the season an may also stunt their development a wee bit.

Id rather fix our defence right now instead surely!

I have a wee worry about this. If Baba is really that good why is there no big clubs in for him?

Surely the likes of Porto or Benfica would be def sniffing about him and why are the bottom half of the EPL Teams not in for him.

Something is not quite right, hope I am wrong though.

Benfica where sniffing. But with Cardozo, Saviola and Aimar there I doubt he will be very high on their list of targets.
Porto also dont really need a striker atm.

With something like 9 goals in 11 league games for the Portuguese equivalent of Killie(league position wise) we can not afford to miss out on this guy. Their chairman has made it well know that he is very reasonable.

Celtic have been given first refusal on 23-year-old Senegal international striker Baba Diawara, currently top-scorer in Portugal with Maritimo.

tbh I see were Baba could fit in to the team we could use the physical presence and heading ability in certain games and if his all round game is good aswell he could force Stokesy out of the starting team, the only thing i dont get is where Bangura fits in to all of this?, I don't think any fans would be saying we need another striker if we hadn't had that failed bid for this guy in August?, at that point everyone was saying it was either Bangura or Baba, not both. If we sign this guy the only way I can see Bangura getting a chance is if we get injuries.

No what I mean is * haggling with them in January, just get the money out and buy him.

Getting this guy would be absolutely ideal for us. He'd be what Fortune was supposed to be. Our first decent target man since JVOH?

This guy would fit perfectly into 4-2-3-1 for european nights etc or against the huns. :35:

    Forster
    Matty Mulgrew Rogne Izzy
    Kayal Victor
    Forrest Ledley Sammy
    Baba

I watched him against Benfica on Sunday, a real good player. He's scored 11 goals in the league this season - he'd certainly be in our starting 11.

    Absolutely.

We've got an excellent striking partnership, with a great understanding, who are really coming onto a game at the moment.

So now we're going to break that up to accommodate some guy from Senegal who's never played outside Portugal? I don't see the point.

In any case, if he's as good as some on here are trying to make out, then we can't afford him, first refusal or no. :56:

It's just a suggestion of a formation pal.

And he's got a great record in a league better than ours:50:

I've been saying this all along, £2m is a lot of money for a player that looks unlikely to be in our starting 11 when fully fit unless Lenny is thinking he could possible do a job at left mid.
