    Yes.

Experienced and knew who to pick and where to play them. We had a * team then, he deliver more success than MON. 3 titles and 2 last CL 16 finnishes. We nearly got to last 8 if not for injury time.

ok, i'll bite, with that, and your posts elsewhere its obvious that you are clearly on the wind up.

strachan won more than o'neill? uh, no he didnt. O'Neill won 7 trophies and strachan won 6. o neill got us to a european final, which whether you like it or not, will be remembered forever; no one really remembers making the last 16 in the grand scheme of things, great as it was. but lets not let facts get in the way of a good old rant.

if not for injury time? kaka scored in extra time. barca beat us comfortably the year after.

    get your facts right.

I think it was more monumental to get to the last 16 twice than to get to the Uefa final. It was immense and the teams we played were amazing during that time. Prefer AC and Barca to Porto and Blackburn any day of the week. And as for GS 6 trophies and MON 7, Thats pretty even. And, I meant Extra Time, just got muddled up.

Some will argue he was more successful than MON, some will argue not as successful. Point is, even with a pure pish team, he did it.

    And thats a fact.

Opposition at the time had absolutely nothing to do with it. Strachan didn't look successful because Rangers were *. He earned success in his own right.

How can you explain the European victories? I suppose we were just lucky to get to the last 16 twice? I suppose standards had conveniently dropped in Europe when Strachan was manager so it only made him look good when he actually wasn't?

Also, if Rangers were so *, how did they manage to get to a European final? If they were so * then and achieving that feat, what does that say about the current Rangers team and their dominance over us recently? More importantly what does it say about US now?

The MON v Strachan argument could be argued all day. They BOTH achieved things the other didn't. They both worked under different circumstances and were BOTH hugely successful managers for Celtic.

That's the fact of the matter. The simple truth here is that unfortunately SOME of our support can't bring themselves to even accept that Strachan was a success at Celtic because he wasn't a "Celtic man" in their eyes.

Had be been Irish? He would be regarded as one of our best ever.

If Neil Lennon goes on to win the same as Strachan, you can bet your * the plaudits he get's will be 100 times more than Strachan ever got for his achievements. In fact, i would suggest that if Lennon even managed half the Success of Strachan, he would get more plaudits. It's a worrying reflection of SOME of our support and is bordering on divisive.

Strachan has been and gone and did a wonderful job. That's how it will remain. I am one who will remember him very fondly. I am now committed to supporting our new manager but i feel i have to speak up when i see utter nonsense being posted trying to play down and besmirch Strachan's success by stating how * the Rangers team of that time were when they were probably more successful that the one we now face and can't wrestle the title from.

Some fans really need to have a word with themselves over this "Celtic man" mindset and that somehow if you aren't one, you need to work harder to get the respect you deserve. Sometimes, as in Strachan's case, not getting it at all no matter what you do.

It makes us look like divisive arseholes. The sort of thing Rangers supporters would come out with.

I hate these kind of questions but if he did NOT have a manager then aye, i wouldnt mind seeing him back. Might not be the best football played but it worked and thats what we are all on here ragin about, our football isnt working.

He built a new successful team after MON. Not as pritty as a MON team, but as successful. Boruc, Robson,Naka, McGeady, Skippy, JVOH and others:97:

Since he left, coming on 3-4 years we've had 1 Scottish Cup, No CL, No Europe, Huns won 3 in a row, and fecking Samaras is still here. :31:

I'd bring him back if Lennon were to go. But hopefully Lennon will win the league.

I'd love to see Big Mick McCarty at Celtic park someday. A Celtic man, Experienced, some success, and he plays good football, and sure hes a good bloke.

I think he would be unreal, but the chances of him going from one skint club to another is very slim and we're probably in a much worse position than Everton just from being in the SPL. I'd take Paul Lambert as well but Neil isn't going anywhere for a while so maybe we shouldn't start replacing him just yet.

No! I believe Neil Lennon will win the league for us, along with other silverware.
