actually there quite a placid fish in general kept alone..african cichlids are nasty little * who would eat a piranha alive..they have a bad hollywood rep like pit bulls have with dogs:31:

put a piranha in with a group of community african cichlids and he wouldnt last 2 minutes lol..

be like a group of fighter planes attacking a jumbo jet:84:

    U like fish?

That's really interesting, I think most people who don't have a knowledge of fish would think piranahs are the worst.

I know someone who likes fish....

Well this is one of the most bizarre threads I'ver ever seen!

I was at a tropical fish shop last year to have a wee look around. There was one really cool fish, i think it was called a sleeping guppy or something. It would lie on the bottom doing nothing for ages and then it would do a backflip and then go back to lying on the bottom. It was really cool.

I'd be scared of getting steaming and knocking the tank over. I kill about 3 lamps a year by knocking them over when i'm trying to turn them off at the end of the night. How big is a 200 lite tank?

This is very interesting Bobobhoy. What we learn about each other eh ? I don't keep fish but I have yo say whenever I have been in the house of someone who has them I am absolutely hooked. So relaxing, so hypnotic. Good for you mate - it's a fine hobby.

piranha only attack when they see a struggleing fish and smell food and it's normally one at first which takes a bite then they all jump in but the eat a elephant in 20 secs thing is total rubbish and a normal batch of piranha maby 20-40 couldn't eat that much and they couldn't bite into the hard skin of an elephant and for a human you will get some bad nips and tiny bits out of you buy watch out for your groin area :56: Painful

anyone seen the piranha movie when they accadently get released well they made a second one and guess what......They fly hahha horrifying but really fake

And are you sure it's red belly piranha you have as they are the evil ones

But theres these big yins which will attack anything it wants if you see about 10 of them around you swim fast I mean fast as they aren't the fastest but can outswim you--He really wants that fish

That's not a very nice thing to come home to :38:

I just looked up african cichlids and they don't look very violent (lol I'm sure that's the wrong word but you know what I mean?). Appearances must be deceptive.

Will you get another parrot fish?

Is there something you're not telling us?

I don't know about tropical fish, but they seem quite amazing. I have a weird hobby of collecting autographs. Got about 90.
