I don't think if they agree to come on trial they aren't very good, they must believe in themselves to come and prove it and get into a massive club. 2 that are really playing on my mind are Pleti and Mphela... These two don't need trials and if we liked em enough to look at them, bring them in on a short contract but believe in them from the off and I'm certain they'd bring something to the squad.

Nothing wrong with giving him a trial in my opinion.

I've only been * off with bringing a goal-keeper on trial because we should have had the position sorted out a while ago, we should have paid for quality because we can't afford the risk.

    * trialists, we should be going for the real deal. We need a player or two that cost a few mil. We've not had that quality in a while and we need it.

I am 100% against trialists, they dont work.

This is a little different though, I think he has been offered to Celtic and they are simply going to have a look at him in training. Am pretty sure he wont be involved in anything other than a behind doors closed game. We need strikers and he seems to fit the bill. Has good pedigree and is a tall striker.

In this case it seems a good idea to see what he is like.

And we need players in pretty sharp the way they are going down injured.

I don't like seeing Celtic harass someone by bringing him on trial, and then not signing him. It shows we're wasting time. Just have the scout/NL look the player and base everything on that. I hope we sign this one, tired of all the useless trials that led to nothing.

Did Izzaguire, Kayal, Ki, Cha have a trial ?

Not a windup. A serious question, I would be interested to know.

I think that we get hung up on the word trial, we simply bring in players to have a look at them and assess whether or not they would suit us, and be able to settle in scotland

I was all for trials until member on here changed my view. You do have to question the quality of a player available for trial at any time really. I mean it risks injury on their part and sort of makes it seem like they have nothing else on the table, which isn't too promising. Have we ever signed a trialist who has even gone on to do well for us yet? Anyway I hope this guy is different and can be the target man we need.

I find it incredible a Celtic fan would have to ask this.

I don't see what anyones problem with taking someone on trial is. If we had done this a bit more in the past, we might not have been saddled with donkeys like Rahael Scheidt, who Barnes bought from seeing a video ffs.

Agree:50: None of them had a trial, Ki was signed on a pre-contract, the rest were bought there and then:icon_mrgreen:

Just what I was thinking - need a goalie - need a powerful striker!? That's what we had on trial both played at pro level for a fair bit respectively.. Only reason I can think we didn't sign them was a disagreement in terms or a shockingly bad trial for both

When are people going to realise this will never happen again ..Its too risky in the current financial climate ..we have to look for players who give us value for money ..If they have to come on trial then so be it ..Dont see a problem in it at all ..After all you dont buy a car without a trial do you ....

I have never seen him play so can't really comment.
    But is he that good?
I'm alway wary of trialists at a certain age. If they haven't really stood out, and their club is willing to let them go on trial at 31 is it worht it?
Can't rely on someone who's coming on trial, should be looking at several other targets also.
I hope to * that Lennon doesn't jsut panic buy this guy or any other trialist jsut because we need to fill the squad. Squad is full enough of below average players and we don't need anymore.

This guy clearly isn't good enough. 31, * scoring record and unwanted by his club. He isn't going to contend a regular starting slot against Stokes & Hooper. He'll only be used if we need some height against aways teams – and we've already got Samaras/Murphy for that.
