Thing is that uefa don't have an easy decision to make either way, they throw sion out looks like it will take a month to sort out their appeals, they don't kick them out then celtic will appeal and sue for lost revenue.

They have already broken the transfer embargo and the sion president also broke the rule in taking football outside to the local courts. If it was done fairly then celtic are back in, yet the easier of the two would just be to give celtic a cheque for lost revenue and allow sion to continue playing in europe.

uefa will fine them & let them stay in the group without any of the banned players being allowed to play.

The only opinion that matters here is UEFAs ....I wouldnt like to speculate on how the outcome will pan out over the next few hours ..We have got our hopes up over the past few years with decisions affecting our club and been let down badly ..Hopefully this will be different this time , we can only hope :celt_2:

Eagerly awaiting the FC Sion/Celtic/UEFA verdict. Meeting started at 4. Only confirmation on decision time is "tonight".

We could be waiting all night.

I can't see any justification for keeping Sion in - especially as Blatter and Platini have both come out and admitted they have gone against their rulings.

In saying that, I couldn't see how someone illegally jumping a barrier and smacking the opoosing team's manager would get away with an assault charge. We clearly need McBride to prosecute every legal issue we have...

They can only make one of two decisions:

They can go along with FIFAs interpretation of the ruling and decide that the ruling is correct and the players are ineligible Sion WILL be kicked out and Celtic WILL take the place in the competition because we have been wronged.

    OR

They can go along with Sions interpretation of the ruling and the players will be deemed eligible and Sion will take the place in the competition and Celtic will have no argument as we won't have been wronged as Sion have abided by the rules.

The players were allegedly ineligible. The decision today is about whether Sion breached their transfer ban and UEFA must decide who's side to take. Celtic won't have a right of appeal or any case in any court over loss of earnings.

Only 2 alternatives. I just hope they find against Sion.

I see where people are coming from by saying that UEFA will not want the hassle of kicking them out, but remember Platini has already stated that that's what he wants. He will have been aware of the hassle which kicking them out would cause from the start, it seems that in spite of that, he still wants justice to be done. I'm still confident.

The ban was a 2 window ban (effectively a year).

FIFA say the ban was for the next 2 transfer windows (January and Summer 2011). I think Sion say it was for an existing transfer window and the January 2011 window so they believe they were allowed to buy in Summer 2011. Its all about concurrent transfer windows. I can't remember the ins and outs of the original case and punishment. If I'm wrong feel free to correct me. I hate waiting like this...
