Swiss Civil Court should decide on Monday whether it confirms the temporary licencing of the players or not. The six players sued the Swiss FA for refusal of work. If the verdict is confirmed, FIFA and UEFA will be in big trouble if they still want to kick us out.

As stated somewhere else FIFA and uefa are a law into themselves and don't deal with courts.they make there own rules as any sports organisation does and they will deal with it internally meaning sion will be booted out

True. They should be kicked out. I agree with that. Its a bit embarrassing to be taking their place (if we do) after they beat us.One of those players was Gonclaeves ex-mini hun and the lad who got 2 goals was on trial at Celtic and got told he wasnt good enough. I know rules are rules and * em, but the players were hardly Zidane's.If we get re-instated I hope to * we cop on and start to prove ourselves as one of Europes greats again.

Its not the players that havee to be punished though its the Club.

Thats nonsence as if they are found guilty then it is us who have been "cheated" against and thus us that would be awarded two 3-0 wins = us that qualified.

a) The derby against Servette (the first in seven years) is tomorrow and

b) Servette president Pishyar says that they won't play under protest because they "want to win on the pitch".

I've read many a post basically saying Celtic would be just as well not accepting a group stage spot in event of Sion getting kicked out on a technicality.

Main reason being that we are * and would probably get beat anyway. Now I'm totally of the opposite opinion. If they have cheated then they quite rightly should have be kicked out and we should take the spot. Firstly because it is a chance to regain some pride and the players we have could do with a run in Europe. Then of course there's the small matter of around £4 Million in participation bonus payments for the club. In these times of economic uncertainty we certainly can't afford to simply say no thanks we'd rather not play anymore.

If they hadn't played the ineligible players whose to say what the results would have been. Certainly two of their goals were from an ineligible player. Besides name any other club that if offered a second chance would turn it down? Look at it another way if say any team had played us in the SPL and won with ineligible players would all those saying we were beat fair and square meekly accept the defeat? Of course not! So why should the EL be any different?

If we do get reinstated then the others in the group will be Athlético Madrid, Udinese, and Stade Rennais. I've no idea how well they all are playing at present but I'd still like to think we could give any of them a game without the pressure of it being a knockout two leg game. Valuable lessons will have been learnt from the Sion fiasco and the players & Neil could do with the extra experience in preperation for next year in the CL.

Platini made it quite clear that FIFA, UEFA, CAS and the Swiss Spreme court have already agreed that Sion were wrong but Sion's owner has appealed that in the smaller Swiss courts. No big deal to him as he's a billionaire throwing money at the club. Well hopefully he will be shown that in sport money and cheats get what they deserve- nothing!

One final point as things stand we all know we still want the SPL title back as our #1 priority and that being so we have to consider what that would mean next season with regards to the CL. If we get back into the EL we have a chance to get a few more co-efficient points and that could make all the difference on who we face be it in the qualifier or group stages. Let's not forget also by the time the EL group games start we should have the injured players back and that alone can make a huge difference to the way we play.

i agree 100%, they were told by uefa they couldn't sign players never mind play them. so they choose to flaut the laws of the game. and if there not thrown out then any club that wishes to do the same in the future can tell uefa that they have no case to answer and just bring up the case of sion v uefa and can you really see uefa letting that senario happening.and while there at it they should look into all the titles and trophies rangers won while they were conning the taxman during the murray era. cos they were able to pay higher wages to there players and to me if you commit a criminal offence to gain the upper hand in a competition thats cheating. and if the sfa had any morals they would strip the lot off that bunch of cheating *

Should Celtic accept being reinstated to the Europa League?

I have noticed a lot of fans making statements that we should turn the opportunity down if given the chance of reinstatement to the Europa League and was wondering what the overall consensus would be.

I would accept it happily as Sion IMO knowingly broke the rules, regardless of how poor we played against them.

EDIT: A lot of people are missing the point of this thread. I know if Celtic gets reinstated they have to participate in the Europa league, fact. The whole point of the thread was because so many supporters have stated that they would rather we did not get reinstated and I was wondering how many felt that way.

FIFA and UEFA are both based in Switzerland as well as the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which is basically an extended arm of FIFA/UEFA. Swiss law always has priority on these three organisations. I'm not saying that this is ok, but it's just how things are.

I haven't really noticed many fans saying that? We won't have the option to turn it down to begin with since we entered the competition. Fans are just making the point, if we are allowed to progress through default. We will be playing a team the same or better than the mighty Sion, and that it would be embarassing to get easily beaten again through default. We would be a bigger laughing stock than we are now.,

Yes, this team needs the experience of playing in Europe. We are only going to get better by playing against a better standard than the SPL. Sion knew the rules regarding these players and they knew they were breaking them, so why should they be thrown out?

Even if I feel like we don't really deserve to be re-instated, I'd still want us to be.

Just can't get excited over it if the performances are anything to by from the Sion one. * help us against the likes of Atletico Madrid, Udinese... and even Rennes.

We should accept it. Sion broke the rules end of story. Of course we would rather have qualified on our own merit but we didn't. So if we get in by the backdoor so be it. I must say we may get a few proper doings from madrid udinese and renne because our team is very poor at the moment

I'm afraid that what Platini says is not true. These courts confirmed that the transfer ban for 2 terms was justified. Sion accepted that and did not sign any players for... 2 terms? 1 + two half-terms? Here's where there is disagreement at the moment. Sion claim that they have already served the penalty, FIFA and UEFA don't agree. The CAS has not delivered any verdict on this yet. And that's the reason why the players appealed to a Swiss Civil court, because the decision-making of the CAS is so slow and they don't have the possibility to hand-out provisional decrees until a decision is made.

can someone tell me why the sfa are not pushing for sion to be kicked out. after all don't they represent scottish clubs at fifa/uefa level. with scotlands game going down the stank you'd think they'd be battling for celtic who've been cheated by thoose dirty toblorone munchers [ what else can you call the swiss, there so * goody-too-shoes ] i wonder what would happen if it was the huns ?????????
