Exactly- its a loophole that many teams will now exploite. It will show a weak UEFA who are unable to enforce their own laws. They need to make a stand and punish Sion accordingly.

    At. Madrid and Udinese?

If we got beaten by Sion, imagine what these teams could do to us.

Jesus. Did you see some of the udinese boys. They were out pacing arsenal!! We would get torn inside out and that di Natalie, * that!

Sion need to be punished so the uefa dont appear weak. I should have thought a desicion would have and should have been made and declared by now.

I'd like us to play Atletico and Udinese! Would love to see them at CP.

Playing these kind of teams is what it's all about :)

BBC are reporting that UEFA insiders have said they are going to be thrown out.

I'd say it's more of a calculated risk they have taken. I'll explain:

As the unseeded team without any European pedigree, they probably thought it was better to field all their players against a 'stronger' side like Celtic; qualify, and take their chances in court.

See Sion were banned from signing players for two transfer periods, starting with the 2010/11 season, after Fifa ruled it had been guilty of inducing Egypt goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary to break his contract with Cairo-based club Al Ahli in 2008.

The Swiss FA, initially, supported the ban, but backed down after six new signings claimed that their civil rights were being violated. However, FIFA's retort is that the ban applied to the club and the players, who all have contracts, are subject to that. In other words, it was Sion's fault that they gave new signings the impression that they were free to play.
^^^^THIS IS WHERE FIFA's CASE IS STRONG.

It is also in FIFA's statutes that disputes between governing bodies and teams cannot be resolved in court. Of course, Sion did this when they took the Swiss FA and UEFA to court over the 'civil rights' of the other players. Parties that do this can incur further sanctions. But Sion's president claims now that this represents FIFA putting itself above the law.
^^^^^^THIS IS WHERE FIFA's CASE IS WEAK.

Put it this way, its all up in the air at the moment!

Well it looks clear that they will be thrown out unless they can argue otherwise.

Aye mate, Platini made a statement at the draw.

Sion failed in their appeal to Fifa, Uefa, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and in the Swiss Supreme Court. The only rulling in their favour was a local court, which FIFA and Uefa do not adhere to. They are out.

This might seem a mad statement considering we don't deserve it, but I will be relieved and happy if we get in to the league. SPL games are * gash. Euro games break up the pish win, lose or draw.

These players need the experience regardless of results. If, and it's a big IF, we win the League we go into the CL. This under experienced management team and playing team need it badly.

As others have said, it would break the monotony of the SPL, but * *: Falcao and Di Natale against our defence does not bear thinking about. Not to mention the rest of the players.

It's also quite embarassing to go through this way. The biggest perk for me would be that we could maybe, just maybe, attract a better calibre of player by waggling european football at them.

The biggest possible negative, is that our tight-fisted, debt-conscious board will be able to rest on their laurels all over again, and pretend everything is rosy.

It only says 'likely', which means nothing. The way that post was written looked like it was set in stone.

    I'm not picky.
Like there is ANY team that would do this

I don't care if we end up getting in just because Sion get chucked out - European football is European football PLUS the money is needed as well. Yeh we were * over the two legs but the bottom line is Sion have CHEATED their way through to the group stages.

You're saying that you would rather have Sion, who have cheated by fielding 5 ineligible players, get through and not us, who NEVER cheated in any way, just because we sucked over the two matches? :97: You think Fenerbahce deserve to still be in the Champions League even though they were chucked out for (allegedly) match fixing?

I will agree that it's definitely not the ideal way to go through and I would have wanted us to go through on footballing merits but I would take this as the next best thing. It would be insane NOT to want it just because we never played well over the two legs.

UEFA = "Celtic you're in the group stages because Sion have been found guilty of cheating and playing players they shouldn't have played"

Celtic = "Naw it's ok - we were played guff over the two legs so we don't want to go through because we don't deserve it. Sion may have cheated but they were the better footballing team"
