Yes he did play well yesterday but against what opposition?

But when he's played in the spl, which is when it counts, he hasn't shown much. Granted he hasn't had a run of games, which can make a big difference but with the STs currently ahead of him and those we are looking to bring in it's not likely to happen.

I have been willing to give him a chance, based on the lack of game time, etc, etc. However after the Wolves game I thought that was it.

Much like Sami, he doesn't play very often and when he does he's poor for the majority of time he's on the park.

The only way it could possibly work would be if were part of a 5 man MF but again, I think we have better options for that - unless of course he's retained as back up for that formation.

Overall though, £15k per week could be better spent and I would much rather see money spent on players who are going to make a difference and consistent, positive contributions.

to be honest, the league of ireland select side would be an spl standard side,ok maybe bottom six,but certinaly good enough to survive the drop in the spl. just the fact they dont play together made them look worse.

they held man city for long enough, and if we didnt get the rush of late goals,we might have viewed them different.

murphy is a strange one,put him in the dundee utd team and he'll be their best striker getting at least 15 goals.but he isnt good enough to start, thats fair to say.
i was surprised he hit the pen yesterday, thought commons would have got it,considering he'd be the main taker surly.

i wouldnt rate murphy better than samaras but ive no doubt giving the same number of games over the season murphy would score more than samaras.

how do people view murphy in relation to rasmussen.if we kept one,to be the phyiscal presence against big strong teams, espically in the winter, would you prefer murphy or rasmussen in the team?

Don't think he has a future at us to be honest and going on his ability shouldn't be. Man Id even play Sammy before him and that says alot.

Wish him all the best tho but think he will be exiting if we can get someone to take him off our hands

The guy cant score in open play. He can hold the ball up but that is about it.

    Murphy isn't good enough.

Doesn't seem fit. Not mobile and just lacks the quality to make an impact.

I understand Lenny's said he's free to look elsewhere - hopefully somebody takes him.

We've got too many squad players, we need guys that can contribute over the course of a season and make a difference to the first team.

Our squad is definetly too big.

Theres's about 18 players who i'd consider can contribute during the season - the rest are deadwood effectively IMO and hopefully they move on to further their careers rather than rob the club for doing SFA.

This deadwood everybody talks about is our backup squad, if we got rid of them all then our squad would be depleted.

Nah, really we should only have two players for most positions. We can definitely stand to lose maybe five players. The ones furthest from the managers plans like Rasmussen, Hooiveld, O'Dea, Towell and Thompson. Even loans would do. With those players gone and Jaurez and McGinn already out on loan then we would probably have about the right sized squad. Oh and Hutchison and McGowan were released.

Yea and we do need 4 strikers.. for cover so if we get another striker in yea then we can let murphy go but if we dont we need him as a squad player. i personaly think there is more deadwood in the defensive and midfield area especially those that got loaned out last season.
