Stonewall, you never miss an opportunity to stick it to Zurawski. Why don't you lay off him and maybe others will lay off Miller. Every time someone mentions Miller you bring Zurawski into it (and with so much venom!). As if they're the only two fighting for the job. Your attacks on Zurawski are getting boring as are attacks on Miller by some of his haters. Personally I like them both and hope they BOTH come out of the slump for the good of the team. :34:

I have never booed a Celtic player and never will. That is not supporting your team. However this is a forum. We are here to discuss Celtic. I want success for Celtic and I feel that is more likely with a striker who can score regularly. No team in the world can afford to carry a striker who doesn't score goals. You cannot continually rely on a good spread of the goals around the team. A midfielder scoring is almost a bonus. He has done something kinda over what he is required in his job. A midfielder shouldn't be relied upon to do that bit extra because there are other players in the team whose job is very clearly to score goals - the strikers. By not scoring he is failng to do his job.

I am not going to have my loyalty to Celtic questioned because I am honest about what I see as the quality of a player who at this moment in time is lucky enough to play with Celtic. I don't rate him, I want a better of quality of player in there BECAUSE I care about Celtic.

A striker's first objective is to score goals. I appreciate that he does good things in the game - but always without the ball. We need a player who does the things he does and can score. It is not an outrageous statement.

Have come out of Miller defense retirement for one last hurrah. Bottom line is (although he has not found an acceptable scoring rate YET):

    1. We play better and have much more momentum when Miller plays (stats may bare this out).
    2. Miller has a very good assists record
    3. He has exceptoinal pace.
    4. Many think him and JVOH would be a good partnership and this has not yet had a fair crack of the whip (e.g 4 or 5 back to back games fully fit). JVOH would make defenders want to defend high while Miller would make defenders want to defend deep-very difficult to cope with.
    5. Miller is perfect for CL and international matches.
    6. If he could add a better scoring ratio (I still think this could yet happen) then he would be a great player.

Give him a chance. He has to adjust to playing for a dominant team. It could even be next season till we see the best of him.

    fair play to you :50:
I just want to know why he gets more praise and ppl still say in february he will come good... can't remember when most of the tic supporters had that big deal of patience for a player.
remember camara? he scored 8 times in 18 games.
seriously, he is not a foreigner and he didn't need time to settle down and I'm not sure if we are allowed to expect more to come.
Other players have been criticized after only 4-5 games with the same performance. but when it comes to miller everybody says once he scores he'll come good. how long are you willing to wait?

Brilliant post Martin, reading the first post must have sickened you the same way it sickened me - and now i don't have to go to the trouble of writing out what i think of it. Cheers mate :50:

What is wrong with not wanting to settle for average performances by average players, just because they give 100%? When a striker isn't scoring but is adding other things to the team, like speed and whatever else Kenny gives, then fine. But when his form dips then theres no way you can justify keeping him in the team.

I can't believe the brass neck of people who sit and slate other players, then go off their nut at people slating the players they like. Everyone here is entitled to their own opinion, so if you can't handle someone else's, you know what to do......:shamrock:

    * off. I sat throught the nineties, watched us go through 5 potless seasons on the bounce.

Does that mean that I have to accept mediocrity in a hoops jersey?

Naw I * don't. Miller is a mediocre to pish striker imo. He doesn't score goals, and 100% effort and commitment are the minimum I expect from EVERY player.

I'll continue criticising him here until he makes me eat my words by going a tremendous scoring run. I have a huge slice of humble pie sitting next to the computer just in case.

I've followed Celtic for more than 20 years now, been a season ticket holder for 13 of them. I shouldn't have to point that out to justify my dislike of a player. This has * all to do with him as a person, * all to do with who he's played for in the past,

in my opinion he is not fit to wear a Celtic jersey!

If you disagree, that's fair enough, but don't question my right to criticise as I see fit.

Ye would rather a player who plays * but runs about a lot than a lad who gets a goal.I 'll take the goalscorer everytime tbh and since when are players not allowed to be criticised. If the criticism is football based whats the problem we all pay our cash at the gates and like everyone has arseholes we all have opinions.I remember the 90's too,and i * love where we are now, love it but it does nae mean ye can't point out when something is no working like Miller which is why he has been dropped.
I would love if Miller comes good and knocks in 15 between now and end of season, nothing agin the guy personally and as a Bosman he's been worth his wages but i don't think he's as good as we can get so i hope we do get another striker of proven quality like JVOH.
As for Telfer i rate the guy, think he's been a great signing

Right here's my take on the whole "King" Kenny thing.
Why do people take to calling the guy King Kenny? C'Mon there must be an agenda there, he's nowhere near good enough for that type of praise.

Here's some questions to put to you King Kenny lovers:

Has he got a song, made up & sung by Celtic fans?

Why has WGS dropped him from the starting line up? WGS know's the benefit Kenny gives to the team, however he also knows that strikers should score goals - WGS got fed up with Kenny not taking up more dangerous positions (a la JVoH) & got fed up with him not being moew selfish - running out into space on the wing to get the ball (that's why I think he'd do well on the right of a front 3 attack.

How many goals should a Celtic striker expect to score in a season? If your honest this should be at LEAST 20.

Kenny gets the criticism he deserves, he also gets the credit he deserves.

If you were to ask if he's had a good season for Celtic, he would say NO.

This must be one of the highest word per post threads ever. Just shows the level of disagreement and the strength of felling on this subject. Its always hard to understand when someone holds the opposite view to you but * happens. People used to buy Phil Collins records FFS!

chill dave, :34: no way should you have to justify your fan life to justify your dislike of miller,no way :38:

but in others eye's, he might not have the greatest strike rate but he does cause concern to defences with his running and commitment and can set up goals, i , am also unhappy with his strike rate, but think he contributes in other ways when not scoring,so i would not say he was mediocre,
dont you think there are a lot of younger fans who never witnessed good celtic teams who win all the time and are used to the teams of jansen, venglos and martins teams and cant get used to not spending on big names, dont realise all great players dont cost great sums and dont have to be superstars to start with,
i think that is the point, not the, ah no better than you coz av been a fan since then, more ah, we've had worse,so lets back them to the hilt,
but myself included at times, we all , are, far to quick to chastise a poor pass or a missed opportunity, big bobo gets even more nervous after a bad pass,as you can hear the sighs when he gets involved in play.
and any way have you not championed the elvii appointment, to players of arguably similar abilty in different positions.
i myself might be on the road to humblesville with the pressely thing, but nowt wrong with opinions, :celt_2::celt_2: hail hail
