I've tried to get interested in the NHL but the few times I've sat down to watch a game I just can't get excited about it. It's the same with basketball.

American Football and Baseball are my favourite sports outside of football though.

I feel the exact same about the MLB. For me it's like watching cricket - completely boring. Maybe you should watch the playoff hockey going on just now man? Always added tension, drama and excitement over regular season games.

The thing I find a bit rubbish about watching the NHL is when a team scores a goal you can't even see the puck going into the goals because it travels so fast. All you get is the commentator going '<insert name here> takes the puck.....he shoots......HE SCORES!!!' and you're left sitting there going '*! Where did it go in?'

That sort of ruins it for me.

I moved over to Toronto in March when the end of the season was closing in and the final playoff places were being decided. I got into it because I'd go to a pub and watch it with some friends. I realised that I could relate to it because like football you have to have great positional awareness and like rugby you have to be seriously fit and be able to hit and take hits. It's a real mans game. I struggled to follow it at the start but after a few games you get into it. I agree that watching the playoffs is more exciting than regular season. Looking forward to the Canucks booking their place in the finals tonight.

Hope you haven't jinxed it big man!!!

I remember (I'm sure it was Gary Bettman) discussing the possibility of using some sort of glow around the puck back in the late 90s/early 00s to make it more visible for TV audiences.

Anyone know if this is still up for discussion?

Fox sports did that recently, it even changed colour when it travelled above a certain speed. See here for more info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FoxTrax

Great to see the Canucks marching on to the Stanley Cup Finals. Hernik with another 2 assists, the man is on fire.

All these other teams only exist so that the Leafs have someone to play. End of.

I know nobody saw that coming although to be fair the Bruins were a bit unlucky not to win game 2. But they didn't so winning Monday night and in such style was huge for Boston.
It will be very interesting to see how game 4 goes tomorrow night. For the Bruins it probably is good that there was just 1 day off after game 3 so they can try and keep the momentum.

I don't mind either team. Thomas and Luongo both deserve a cup. May be Thomas even more after all he had to go through.
