    Doesn't matter If it's a friendly he shouldn't be given that privellage in the first place, players like Ledley and Commons deserve the chance not half arsed guys like Samaras

    To be fair, he is one of the 'senior' members of the squad, having been here for a few seasons now.

    Having said that, Mark Wilson should be captain before him.

    exactly the guy just come across as calm and collected. He was the first player to run over and help neil lennon when the guy ran on at swinecastle

    As a person i'm sure he's very likeable and decent but we're talkng about someone who has had more than enough chances to prove himself, how long can we continue to accommodate someone in the hope that they might hit a bit of form now and again.

    Sammy is a real confidence player, he seems like he always needs to be told he is doing well, and to be encouraged, giving him the armband is the ultimate pat on the back, so it might give him the push he needs to have a good game, I think it's a good idea.

    Can't believe some people are slagging him off because he's going to captain Celtic for one friendly. I doubt there are many at the club who work as hard or have Celtic as much in their heart as Sammy. Also aren't many who have actually been there longer. He knows what Celtic is all about.

    It's a good idea for the player, in terms of confidence and the club, in terms of PR. Well done Celtic.

    Frustrating is right :31: No offence but but how many chances is he after getting to prove us wrong. the only thing he proves is he is never going to be good enough. Hopefully it will be the last time he wears the captains armband and for that matter a Celtic jersey.:31:

    There's something about Sammy though that makes you want him to come good for us. I'd love to see a complete transformation from him in the hoops in this up coming season but I forsee a season of me shouting "PASS...
    PASS... SAMMY * PASS AND IT'S A GOAL... ORITE THEN AT LEAST SHOOT... NOOOO" as he dribbles himself into the corner flag.
