Rasmussen to fight for place

he suffered when we signed Robbie Keane, or we would have seen a lot more of him, Keane signing pretty much ruined his first 6 months at the club! He has scored goals wherever he has played, most recently helping save Aab from relegation and does deserve a chance with Celtic!

 

Would like to see him possibly get a chance but if he goes i wont be upset

 

He's got good height on him and i rate him a better target man than sammy.

 

Was too slow to win most headers from what I saw.

lennon clearly doesn't fancy him if he let him go out on loan last year. that being said, i don't personally think he is any worse than muprhy, he would probably score more goals too. do need a target man for motherwell, inverness etc away from home, hopefully lennon has someone else in mind!

 

Ras scored 2 goals in 8 when he played for us
He also scored 8 in 15 when he was out on loan

Samaras scored 3 in 22 this season
Murphy scored 3 in 18 since he came to Celtic


This season he has scored 2 more league goals than Murphy and Samaras combined, and has played 25 less game.

Since 2006 he has scored regularly, with every team he's been at. 54 goals in 107 games, basically a goal every other game. A much better ratio than either Sammy or Murphy.

He offers something different from Hooper and Stokes, but unlike Sammy and Murphy we can rely on him to put the ball in the net.

I think we'd be stupid to let him go, especially ahead of Murphy and maybe even Sammy.

Him and Hooiveld are 2 players that alot of people have branded as failures becasue they we're signed under Mowbray and are the "left overs" from his team. I think Lenny wanted them out to build his own team and get rid of all the Mowbray memories, but hopefully now that Lenny has built his own team he'll give these guys a crack at the whip.

 

he should be given a fair chance to fight for his spot. rather him, then murphy riding the bench.

 

hmmm, I honestly think in the right team he can be productive, I am just not sure on whether or not the team is us.

He linked up great with Keane I wouldn't mind seeing him get a chance this season, I wish he was on pre season

I can't believe it looks like I'm going to have to endure at least another year of Sammy. I would much rather we had Rasmussen. Glenda too...

I also think he would be more effective on the * away pitches such as Motherwell than Sammy or Murph would be. He is also the target man we have been crying out for since big Jan left, very effective in the air. Players like Hoops and Stokes would be deadly if ras managed to flick the long ball into their path. Also just having the option would be nice when its 0-0 with 5 mins to go.

Get rid of Sammy, get him in and give him the number 9, players like him score * loads in teams like celtic and rangers(boyd) since we attack so much.

Sometimes you just need someone who scores scrappy goals, and thats about all Ras will do, but if you look at the very basics of football that is the most important thing.

Goals win games, winning games gets points, getting points wins the league.

 

Hi Everyone hope all is well. I think this may be a positive thing having big Ras available. We could use him in difficult away game ie inverness, motherwell when the going gets tough. Also I know Lenny proberbly would not pick together but imagine using him with Sammy upfront, or even a trio of Murphy, Sammy and Ras? Long ball I know but could turn out to be to powerfull for some teams to handle.

I think he deserves another chance and this is the time for it to happen. Lenny needs the title, we want it and it seems players coming back ie Hooiveld etc seem to want to be involved from the start. I think we may see big Ras early on used as sub to partner/help stokes and hooper. HailHail

 

In one of the earlier posts in this thread someone said Rass's goal against Hibs earned the job for Lenny.
Its a good shout, if Lenny hadnt got that 100% league wins, who knows?

Also if Rass had been playing in the game away to Inverness in that game up there, I'd be willing to bet he'd have stuck away one or two, it was just the kind of scrappy game that would suit him!

 

Rasmussen is a better backup then Murphy.

 

QFT. Given a chance I think he could score a good few goals.

 

I really really want Rasmussen to get a chance, he can score headers, and decent in the box, Hoopers work rate and link up play is class, could work well beside Rass.

would rather we kept rasmussen atm and gave him a fair chance. could end up doing a great job for us.

if he gets a chance and doesnt hold a starting place, then by all means sell him and find a replacement ( if we need one )

alot of the time players dont get their chance until the squad is thin and we have to rely on them, and alot of the time they end up performing really well and holding a place down
