Celtic boss Gordon Strachan has ruled out a move for Tottenham striker Robbie Keane.

Reports over the weekend suggested Strachan was lining up a shock move to take Keane to Parkhead on loan.

Keane's future at White Hart Lane has been the subject of speculation for some time as he battles to hold down a regular place in Martin Jol's side.

The Republic of Ireland international is battling with Jermain Defoe, Mido and Dimitar Berbatov for a starting place in Tottenham's front line.

Keane has been linked with a move away in search of regular first-team football, but Strachan has poured cold water on the rumours suggesting he could move to Glasgow.

"I don't think that will happen - I don't think a player like that would be allowed out on loan," said Strachan.

Get real.. Keane is a non starter...I would rather have Roy Keane back..;-)

Yep...we do have too many strikers...too many duff ones = Miller & Zurawaski

Thats hardly ruling out a move now is it?

Keane would be perfect for us at the minute, think he'd be a great signing. Think he signed a new contract in the summer tho did he not? Which means that if he wasn't allowed out on load like GS suggests, he'd be well out our price range to buy anyway.

Quite unlikely, but not impossible :shamrock:

In other words, Strachan has said that he'd have to be bought and the asking price is probably too high at this moment in time.

Keane would destroy SPL defenses and having him for the Milan match would boost our chances, alot

True JVOH and Keane would genuinely worry European teams...

If some how we pulled it off, we would be in with a decent shout and the odds would humble for Celtic to lift the CL

It's not going to happen, and even if by some miracle we managed to get him this season, he would be ineligible for the CL having already played in the UEFA cup with Spurs.

    Forgot about that:54:

Was he not injued in Spurs Euro run?

The cup tie rule should really be looked at, why can't someone play for another team if they pay the money

don't think the UEFA should make one ineligible for CL since the UEFA don't parachute to the CL. I can see it possibly happening the other way.

It does. Only the Inter Toto games don't count, the UEFA does cup tie you.
