That first day of the football festival was funny...some Rangers fan was sitting in front of The Cove while Sydney Fc were warming up and just as it was biting into a hotdog a ball smashed straight into it spilling beer and food everywhere.

The problem on that day was the arrogance of the Rangers fans. No one in the Cove had a problem with them (well, nothing beyond what those of us who support both Sydney and Celtic naturally have) and the dual Sydneyfc/Celtic fans were more about supporting Sydney then stirring them up. Well that was the intention. But then the sectarian songs started and we have a tune similar to a Celtic song and then they just started. So of course, Celtic scarves are pulled out and waved to them.

And didn't they whinge on their forums.

Funny thing was a bunch of Rangers fan turned up at the Brisbane match 2 years ago and 27000 Celtic fans didn't give a *... yet 1000 (generous estimate) of them got angsty last year.

I guess that indicates the difference - we love our team first and only, and they feel a need to hate first and support second

 

100% agree with you mate. Came across a few Rangers lads in Brisbane and we just laughed it off.

 

I was the one that waved the Keane tricolour scarf at them. Wasn't going to and I was there in my Sydney Fc gear (being a local, Sydney FC are more 'my team' so I didn't want to bring ancient grudges along) but once they started that was it. Some sad so n so whinged about it in his big inarticulate blog on RangersMedia (ozbear or ozblue.. the irony of calling oneself a bear) so I was pretty proud of myself that week.

Walking out after (with no tricolours showing because we didn't want to have any trouble) a bunch of them walking in were doing the 'no surrender' crap. Muppets.

is there any entertainment organised at cheers for the celtic game and if so what time does the festivites begin flying in from brisbane for this one cant wait.:bbpd:

 

Think there's going to be bands from Friday to Sunday with a big breakfast on the Saturday morning. You'd want to get in contact with Sydney City CSC ASAP as they're the ones organising everything and there is limited capacity at cheers. Their website is http://www.sydneycitycsc.com/

 

My cousin is in a pipe band who is playing at half time in Perth. He was meant to go to dinner with the pipe band and Celtic the night before but can't make it as its his school ball, so I'm going in his place!!! WOOOOO! ... (my cousin is a hun anyway haha)

 

When i was in Brisbane 2009 there were a couple of huns with tops trying to wind us up on Caxton Street they only succeded in getting laughed at.Got my tickets for Sydney game really looking forward to it.

 

those * at perth glory turned around and told the Perth csc, their tickets would not be purchasable..

so now basically any reserved tickets put aside by tims at perthcsc are up for grabs.

disgraceful really.
