Think he's one of our best players, barely plays and yet he's our 4th top scorer? Sounds pretty good to me. Deffo keep him, it's great to have him on the bench.

Think it's time for Paddy to move on. The guy has undoubted talent but he'll struggle to get a regukar place. He should be playing every week for a team at this stage in his career and would do well with a club in the Championship.

And who would we drop if he was to become a regular? Commons, Brown? I rate Forrest more than McCourt. McCourt is a decent enough player but not good enough to start every game. He should be used when needed which is not all the time. Good impact, if given more time than 10 minutes but never a regular starter for Celtic

So do I. I think James is a big talent and altho he had a few quiet games,he definitely showed his quality for us and I think is more reliable than McCourt.

McCourt won us more points than Samaras last season and contributed more as well. Forrest is a little more disciplined and a more out and out winger, but there should be room in the squad for McCourt.

Is it that hard to believe? Forrest started the season superb, got injured and fell away a bit. But he is far more direct and has quite a good shot on him too.
Opinions vary and my opinion is that McCourt is over-rated and shouldn't be in the first team.

Had his best season for us yet. Played in 25 games and scored 7 goals. More than decent return, and played in more games and scored more than Forrest.

Reason people are saying this is because McCourt had his best spell up till @ Xmas, Forrest has been more noticeable since Xmas.

Two different players with different roles in the team.

If McCourt could get a bit of consistency going he would be the best player at the club and a 1st team regular, the problem he's got is that his form is so unpredictable.

I do hope we keep him and he gets a run to prove himself but he needs to deliver on a regular basis for Lenny to trust him with regular 1st team starts.

He's just doesn't do enough when he starts. I love the player, but I think he is simply incapable of the fitness required for 90 minutes. As long as he stay and sub for us, I'll have him in the team all day. He's deadly against tired defenders and can pick out a good pass in the last third as well.

I like paddy because he has alot of talent but he is not consistant enough to warrant a place in the starting 11

I think the same amouts of people overestimate and underestimate the player Paddy McCourt is.
Yes he can score spectacular goal, yes sometimes he should rather pass. Yes he can find wonderful pass or cross, but sometimes he goes for foul or penalty.
I don't think he lacks fitness more than or is worse or lazier defensively than for example Commons. He can play 90 min of OF game and still sprint and tackle, as he has shown in January.

He is sometimes overconfident in his dribbling skills ( can be exposed against good defenders) and therefore plays a bit greedy, especially around the net and that can be very frustrating. With his style of play I would guess that his best position is just behind the striker, but best games I have seen from him were on the wing.

Seriously...I think I'm writing too much:)
Conclusion : I'm a fan and Celtic should keep him and play him min 30 minutes every match where we need some creativity. But he shouldn't start every game. Itis about choosing the right personnel for the game.

Against most of people here, I'm in favor of using more players than the selected best 11, I like to rotate players in starting lineup. I think there should be 1-3 new players every other game. In SPL we should dominate regardless who we put on the field. That system could keep players like Cha, Juarez, McCourt happy and ready for action if needed. I don't like riding my favourites till there is injury or suspension. Also rotating supports competition in team.

Again... writing too much.:) I wonder if it makes sense... What's with me today?
Conclusion: I'm off. The offseason is killing me. Need some beer.:bbpd::icon_mrgreen:
