Which is a complete joke, as he is being offered not much more than a grand a week by those clubs. FFS, the janitor at Parkhead is probably getting near that!

Although Stokes seems a bit of a *, I suspect our himming and hawing over (in football terms) peanuts wouldn't have heped things. That and Maloney's situation. I remember the same thing with Jackie McNamara, who we thought we could short change just coz he was Celtic captain and off the back of a great season for the club.

:31: I'm all for prudence but not in a Royle family way.

    Hail, Hail :celt_2:

..and while I'm at it I think I'll be naughty and stoke the debate about the "controversy" surrounding players deciding to play for Ireland. Yes, the two systems lend themselves to players settling with Ireland, but I would also hazard a guess that there was plenty of controversy among the same circle of people when his family settled in Scotland.

..and not the type whereby they were clamouring to have them accepted into the fold. :47:

In the immortal words of Jim Carrey: "How ironic!"

the boy was very close to his grandfather who was 100% irish. he always wanted him to play for ireland one day, and his grandfather died a few years back. so he said he is definetly playing for ireland. hes determined to play for ireland. i didnt like the way mcgeady was treated and i hope this wont happen to him. although i understand fully why scottish people would be * off, but its no ones decision only mccartys. anyway he played in irelands u-17 win against italy tonight but im not sure that means theres no turning back for him.

Its looks like this lad cant wait to get going here. The contract is a very tight one. 6 months with the club having the option of a further 2 years if he impresses the manager. Celtic are keeping tight financial controls on players that have had a long medical history which is the right thing to be doing.

Doumbe will do the business :56::56::56:
He is big, strong and good on the ball, and can play right across the back, just what we need as cover for both full back positions.
WGS knows talent when he sees it..:50::50:

But yeah.. I haven't seen him in action before, but he's highly rated, so I hope he'll do the business. Is he cup tied?

dont think we could afford distin.... mabye if we were to get rid of graveson or someone like that because i think thats the sort of wages we would have to offer.....

would be great none the less and mabye the lure of a few great champions league nights here would be too much to resist
