Making me cringe so much, I * despise people who are in your face about supporting 'our' troops. If people want to fine, if they don't want to fine. It's really doing my * in, the sort of people who think they're better than you if you wear a poppy, * right off.

What a tasteless message that is. Football has nothing to do with real war and dead soldiers should not be abused by some bitter football fans. People just think their national football team is just as important as their army. Its nonsense.

What a load of crap. Its a soldiers choice to become one. I bet you half the soldiers don't want all the attention, they just want to get on with it.

I don't get why they say they should get paid more by footballers? Why not something like a golfer, or a tennis player, or a boxer? Its because of the money that is used today in football tbh.

Now Rangers fans can go on and say this if they want, if they do, they're more or less putting down their own players, and if they want to do it then let them.

I can obviously see the point they're trying to make, that soldiers should get paid more than footballers for risking their lives, well if that happened, then firefighters would want more money for risking and saving their lives, then the police would want more money for risking and saving lives, then the doctors and specialists would want more money for saving lives, it would kinda go on, and if they say more than footballers, then that would be over 200 odd thousand pound a week? More than the highest paid footballer, how the * could the government pay that? The wages of a footballer come directly from the club that they play for, and that club earns its own money from investments and fans. There are thousands and thousands of army troops right, so how are the government going to afford to pay all of them that much?

Exactly, it doesnt take as much effort to get IN the army, than it takes to become a top footballer, you're either good or you're not.

But it takes alot of effort to fight in the army, but thats their choice as you've said.

I wonder if the Afghan people see them as a liberating army laying their lives down for the cause of democracy. Some how i dont think so how can you impose democracy on a nation its a contradiction, but britain is good at contradiction check your history.Football players do just that play football if someone wants to pay them 25k a week so be it i wish my company thought i was worth that.

I think people cut off their nose to spite their face in regards to Afghanistan. They don't want us to leave, they just want us not to be incompetent, which unfortunately is a wish we've (NATO) been largely unable to grant them. The war began on September 9th, 2001, not September 11th, with the assassination of Ahmad Shah Massoud, who would have welcomed NATO involvement. How Westerners could have rationalized disagreeing with Massoud in that situation on ethical or moral grounds would have been amusing to watch, but I'm sure some people would still have done it.

I find the comment on facebook cringeworthy because footballers arent doing anything wrong, however I would like to see the same media that supported the war give the dead of all sides the same coverage they give celebraties, Montel Williams said it best when he owned fox news
