Who has been your best centre half pairing over the last 20 years

My choice even though injury broke it up would have to be Stubbsy and Reiper

    Balde, Mjallby, Valgaeren

I feel three CBs is the way forward and these three were pretty solid.

Hope Lenny gives 3-5-2 a bit of consideration this season.:shamrock:

When we played 3 at the back under O'Neill was easily the best defence we had both in a defensive and attacking sense.

Our height and power at that time steamrolled most teams.

3 centre halfs under Martin O`Neil; Balde, Mjallby and Joos were outstanding. Varga done a job when he played and also Ramon Vega for a season.

If it's just two players, then Balde and Varga

Balde had the power and pace, Varga had the passing and calming authority. Both were superb in the air and probably got us 10 goals a season.

    Forster
    Wilson Balde Varga Izaguirre
    Brown Kayal Ledley Commons
    Hooper Stokes

If they were in this team it could moonwallk to the SPL title.

Don't think that can really be argued, strongest defence we've had in my time and with guys like Varga and Vega, both very capable to cover.

The more I think its certainly Balde and Varga, I * loved them but they also played together in 5 out of the 7 games hun whitewash, Varga missed one game that Balde and Valgaeren played and Balde missed one game that Varga and Sutton played.

Balde and Varga also played in the beating of Barcelona and Varga even managed a clean-sheet at the Nou Camp with Kennedy beside him and Marshall in goals.
