Not sure, some young guy off of Radio Scotland. The questions were in no way inflamatory, just basically "What effect do you htink Elvis will have?", WGS said that he'd answered questions on that yesterday. The reporter said well, for fans that didn't hear the interviews yesterday and WGS said if people didn't hear the interview yesterday then they weren't real fans.

If he's like that when we're 17 points clear and in the last 16 of the CL, * help us if things get a bit competitive in the SPL.

GS could have been * off with the crowd at the Killie match. That wasnt good enough from the fans either. It could have been a dig at them

See to be honest, the amount of crap that is spilled out week after week, month after year etc etc, by the press about our club is enough to make a man like WGS resort to talking to them like that. Even MON had his occasional digs at the media.

You never what had already been discussed between WGS and Elvis, though. Maybe they agreed NOT to talk about it until it was finally closed out, and that meant not revealin anythin to the press. How many transfers these days are scuppered due to press?

Even still, he has got to be a wee bit more patient with some people. However, dont think we should judge him on his performances in the media conferences. Lets see how many trophies he brings to our glorious club.

I heard the post match interview and i remember him saying something like this-

"it was quiet today wasnt it? yes.........it was very quiet in the stadium"

    50,000 x £23 = £1,150,000 per week

I think if they are playing middle of the road football, we're paying £23 a week, we can be as loud or as quiet as we want gordon !!!
He should thank the fans all the time rather than slagging them off. we pay his wages. that annoyed me.

There was also a hint of arrogance in his voice as if it was our * given right to beat everyone and thats that.

He needs to watch what hes doing cos (and i hope not) one day we may not be doing as well and his arrogane will make him look sily

Just a thought but if it were MoN and not WGS saying these things in interviews would some section of the Celtic support still be on his back?

The thing is Cavan, at the same time as WGS is throwing a strop about being asked about signing a Scotland international defender, PLG is replying civily to questions about why he has dropped his captain.

The press are there, not to harass Celtic as many of our conspiracy-mungering fans seem to think, but to ask about the issues that interest the Celtic fans. In this case about Elvis signing. I for one had not heard the Friday interviews with WGS on the matter so does that make me as he put it "not a proper fan"?

What i can't understand is that WGS has worked as a media pundit, he should be able hack a couple of positive sounding questions.

    ie

    Q) What will Pressley bring to the team?
    A) He's a big commanding centre half and we're weak there at the moment.

    Q) Any other transfer business going to be done during the window Gordon?
    A) There might be but i can't talk about it.

Simple. There's no need to be pettey and rude.

I think you get to the crux of the matter Jonny. Whatever we think of the media they do serve a purpose - its how the fans get info about the club. I can understand Strachan's suspicion of the media but he does have a duty to represent the club well in his dealings with the media and to keep the fans informed - up to a point obviously.

this is a non-issue as fa as i am concerned,

put yourself in his position, these * ask the same churned out q's,time after time, day after day, week after week, month after month, and still dont change from one tic manager to the next, if i get asked or have to repeat myself over and over and over at my work, i greet and moan like *,
every celt manager is treated the same, and totally different to rangers bosses,

just see the way the crisis at ibrox is handled, they'll skirt around this and that and get right on to his replacement and forget le goon and mr rangers will be back,
tic managers i believe see this and it gets right up their noses, so i think wgs aint playing their game and more power to him, we should sit back and watch his masterful performances on sticking it to them.
ask daft questions and they get daft responses.
were in his contract does it tell him he has to namby pamby to the media so they can twist and bend the words to their agenda
roll on gordie bhoy give them it large,

ps. mon had quite a bad time of it with the press even when his wife had cancer as he wouldnt say publicly, the press told us the truth about her being an alky as rumour had it, bang on then werent they.

Typical Scottish media today. The Mint says Le Guen left by mutual consent and every hack accepts it. No one questions the fact he might have been sacked or that Barry's petted lip won the day.Now remember the press that Barnes got and the heat that was put on Dalglish and CEO McDonald. Double standards as no one dares to question Murray.

I actually think you have a very valid point there about the whole Murray thing. Not one person from the media has asked the question of was he sacked or did he actually quit? same with the bawwy thing. they've just accepted it, and thats it. i think theyre scared of murray to be honest.

someone earlier said that if MON had reacted the same way, would we be having this thread right now. The simple answer:

    NO!!!
