That's just because he plays down south. Premiership prices. He realy should be about 3.5m, but because he's down there the prices soar,

£1M Hamilton wanted from us for him, and our * board wouldn't pay it. He was desperate to come here too.

 

I personally think he's worth 4 to 5 million at max but I think (without my green tinted specs on) that Charlie Adam has had a far better season and done it when it counts down there.

 

At that price, I have to agree that £1m was overpriced at the time. I really think McCarthy wouldn't have been a immediate starter in our squad. How many times have we bought a promising player to sit on the bench?

 

Yet again overpriced. Decent young player. If he had signed for us then the figure wouldn't be £12million, it would be about £4-£5mllion.

 

I think youre all under rating him. He's Wigans best player and only 20, I would say he's worth about £15million. If he played for us though it would only be about £8million but he is playing at a higher level so teams will pay more.

He's better than Lescott or Milner who cost over £20million and he could play for any of the teams down there he's better than Fletcher, Denilson, Ramires, Milner, Vieira, Spearing, Lucas, Anderson, Carrick, Diaby, Huddlestone, Sandro, Song, Rosicky, Barry, De Jong. Only midfielders he's not better than I would say from the top 6 are Modric, Gerrard, Scholes, Fabregas, Essien, Toure and Lampard and he's round about the level of Wilshere, Ramsey, Merieles.

Carrick, Anderson, Ramires, Barry and Milner all cost over £15million. He could go to Liverpool, United or Arsenal and have 4 good years and end up being for £30million+

He is though, they may be at better teams but are they actually better than him?

People saying he's worth £4/5million. EVERYTEAM IN EUROPE would try to sign him if Wigan put him on sale at that price!

McCarthy got 3 goals and 1 assist for Wigan in 24 games, Wilshere got 1 goal and 3 assists for Arsenal in 35 games. Doesn't prove anything but I wouldnt say he was better than McCarthy and stats would back it up.

 

Wilshere is 100% better than James McCarthy. He was arguably the stand out performer in the tie against Barcelona and has run Arsenal's midfield this season. I really rate McCarthy and think he is a huge prospect, but Wilshere is probably the best youth prospect in Europe.

Ramsay was doing great until his injury, and it remains to be seen how he slips back into the team once the new season starts, with or without Cesc, but people are sleeping on him a bit because he's been out for so long, he is a top player in the making.

Mereiles again I think is just a step up from McCarthy.

In a couple of years I may be proved wrong but I don't think many would argue that McCarty was as good as any of these three players, particularly Wilshere, and that is coming from someone who hates Arsenal.

 

We missed the boat on him , and Steven Fletcher , all the board's fault.
