I would take him on loan and a cut in wages. Whether or not Man City would allow him to leave on loan or Given taking a massive paycut remains to be seen. I would like it to happen.

add an experienced and vocal keeper to this season's defence and it will only improve big time. would be an excellent signing, as i said elsewhere freeing up hinkel and ljungberg's wages would more than cover 30k a week for him...plus maybe a sizeable match fee.

would be a great signing, the only stumbling block would be wages. but he could be willing to take a pay cut to join the team he supports.

Yes please, not old at all for a keeper and would bring much needed class and experience to our defence.

    Really hope it happens!:shamrock:

I really want him back up here. Age doesn't that have much of an impact when you're a keeper. Look at the likes of Van der Sar and Oliver Kahn, who only retired three years ago aged 38 and was still playing at the top level of football until then.

He'd be the highest earner at Celtic if he came back, no doubt, but I think he would be willing to take a cut in wages to rejoin his boyhood heroes.

I think people get carried away with exceptions who play at a high level into to late 30s/40. For every one of them there are 20 who do decline early. Evev for goalies its not that many that are still at the top of their game in their later 30s. For every Henke there is a striker who is already losing their edge by 32-33. I think this thinking made us think Maj would be our Davie Weir but Maj is clearly past it.

Clearly your the only one that thinks this , if you cant see how Maj did his part this season not only on the pitch and off it , then * have you been watching ? :97:

He's 35 and barring an unfortunate shoulder injury would still be considered one of the top 5 goalkeepers in Europe.

The team he plays for could have picked any goalkeeper in world football when they bought him and they chose Shay Given, that shows you what level this guy operates at.

Buffon is 33, VDS is 40, Kahn was 38 when he retired at the top, Friedel is 40 and Liverpool and Spurs are fighting over him etc etc etc

This. Although still think Maj can be a good squad player for one more season.

As for Given, I'd only take him if Westwood and Forster weren't possible.

I am in agreeance with you Gunt on this one.Not many players can keep at their optimum fighting fit best after 32. Majstorovic was past it last year, and he certainly won't do for this year if we are being honest with ourselves. I wouldn't want Given for the same reason, and he is injury prone, with a dodgy shoulder that could pop out again anytime.

Maj is far too slow. He needs a lot of protection. He is also terrible in the air at times. If he once was able to play at a high level he is far too slow to do so now. He can do a job dealing with long balls etc and low quality imobile SPL strikers but he would be laughable against mobile decent players quick passing in Europe. I think against Caley when his usual CM protection wasnt there he looked like an average player could beat him most times. I think regardless of how good he was once that he looks like a lower league player now. He is an improvement on the total jokes who played in the 2nd half of Mogga's season and the start of Lenny's but that is not saying much.

I dont want to see Maj in a Celtic shirt next season.

As for Given if he is a risk because of chronic injuries then at 35 we cant throw around 4 million for him. I think I might gamble 2 million on him because he was very good but I dont think e can gamble 4 million.

I dont know where people are getting the idea we are suddenly going to start shelling out 6 million of a striker, 4 million on a keeper and whatever a 2nd new CH costs. That doesnt sound like the biscuit tin I know.
