Dont even need to read this thread to know it will be all skewed to MON era players. Personally in the last 30 years I think our best players were in the 1980s. They were not as successful years but the SPL was so far above the present one in standard it is unreal. At least four Scottish teams (none of whom were us) were competing well against Europe's best. We had such a conveyor belt of homegrown talent many of whom played in the top leagues across Europe when they left Celtic. That gave me much more pleasure than the cheque book approach. Its a shame the 80s is forgotten but I think one title in that period was worth three in the 0s

For all of the 80's? Consistently? Who??

Edit: Even more so... 'We had such a conveyor belt of homegrown talent many of whom played in the top leagues across Europe when they left Celtic'....... eh?

The king of kings. Larsson. Great goals, skill, passion. All done with a smile on his face and real love for the club.

    Legend.

Charlie Nic (Arsenal), Frank (west ham), Rambo (Munich), Murdo (Dortmund), McClair (Man U) just to rattle off a few in a few seconds.

Nicholas was hardly a roaring success at Arsenal. We signed McAvenie FROM West Ham, he moved back because he was a waster. McInally moved to Villa where he was noticed and moved on to Munich. Murdo lasted a couple of seasons in Dortmund.

    a conveyor belt? :icon_mrgreen:

Now who were the 4 teams?

Henrik Larsson, along with The Rock was the true hero of my childhood.

In recent years, a special mention to Boruc and Nakamura, but there will only ever be one Henrik <3

Exactly. The same could be said of now.

Crainey, Petrov, Fortune, Caldwell...It's a conveyor belt!

Henrik. By a mile. I still greet sometimes whem I watch his compilation videos. Not even close.

We were absolutely spoiled to have him. Everything he ever said or done just oozes class. THE consumate professional and the kind of man we should all strive to emulate.

I'm really mad at myself for including Henrik on this poll. I would have been really interested to see the results with Larsson not in it.

Mines would have been Tommy Burns if not for Henrik.

Why? The guy is an icon and would deserve to be included in any poll at this time.

I'm 42 and have never seen a guy perform as consistently for us.

He's a hero for young and old.
