We know how good a player he can be, I think he was terrific during that period around November/December. It's just a matter of whether he can up his fitness levels to be able to perform his magic for 90 minutes.

I hope he stays but he may want first team football more ane there for be forced to leave. He proved he can do the business this season, especially in the 2 nil game away to Rangers.

90% of the time he produces the goods when he's on the park. Plus hes not on alot of wages either so YES I would keep him around definitely. Hope he gets more games though to produce the Paddy Magic.

Exactly. We had relied on McCourt and his magic before Kayal got on the team and made everybody around him significantly better.

Marked improvement from last season. Paddy actually looked like a professional footballer this season and has made great strides in terms of fitness and stamina. I think he's ready, we'll see a lot more next season, particularly in the tough UEFA cup games where an away goal will win the tie.

    08/09 - (6) apps 0 goals 1 assist
    09/10 - 4(10) apps 3 goals 0 assists
    10/11 - 9(20) apps 7 goals 3 assists

He won the games against ICT (14Aug 2010) and Motherwell (29Dec 2010) and ensured a point against ICT (27Nov 2010). And, at the risk of dragging up old grievances; if that fat * Munro hadn't have body slammed him he would have got the equalizer in the 04May 2011 ICT game.

And that's 7 points he earned us single handedly, on the other hand he hasn't done anything of note which has cost us points, so in my opinion he's a useful member of the squad, the huns hate him and he's steadily improving year on year.

    ____________________________________________________
    Anyway here's some comparisons

    McCourt

    08/09 - (6) apps 0 goals 1 assist
    09/10 - 4(10) apps 3 goals 0 assists
    10/11 - 9(20) apps 7 goals 3 assists

    Maloney

    08/09 - 20(10) 5 goals 4 assists
    09/10 - 12(1) apps 4 goals 3 assists
    10/11 - 16(8) apps 6 goals 3 assists

    Samaras

    08/09 - 24(17) 17 goals 3 assists
    09/10 - 27(15) 13 goals 2 assists
    10/11 - 22(8) apps 7 goals 2 assists

McCourt is on the up, Sammy is getting worse and Maloney is a back-up Paddy

Shame for Paddy, you could even see it in his face yesterday, of course you can't give everyone a game but he knows the fans love him.

I can't see he hasn't had much of a chance because he had a good run at one point and never produced like he does as a sub.

I think he's improved the aspects of his game that were lacking.

I feel, on currrent form, it would be hard to see Kris Commons being displaced from the starting berth in left midfield. But if Paddy is happy with the supersub role, and with taking his chance when it comes, then I'd really like to see us keep him.

Can turn a game with a flash of brilliance, and that is a rare thing.

I'd like to see him play off the striker in games we go 1 up top because I reckon he is vastly under rated in the air.

There would be absolutely no value in selling him, he'll be a low earner and he cost us peanuts. We'd only get a million or so for him and his match winning capabilities would/could/should be worth more than that.

Thinking about it, it could be a lack of confidence that's holding him back.

There's been a lot of games where he's brought on and dawdles on the ball, moves around slowly trying to take on his man and ends up running into a corner, losing the ball or being forced into a backwards/sideways pass.

When he picks up the ball and drives at a defence, he's dangerous, and that's when he scores his goals.

Yesterday he looked a lot more willing to have a go and, dare I say it, he actually looked a lot faster at points.

Question is - how's he supposed to gain match confidence when he never plays?

Anybody else think we could play him as a striker? I mean when he plays on the wing, he's more prone to go around guys and cut into the box anyway. He scores quite a few when he plays as it is and he likes to get himself in the box like the other day.

I think Paddy just has to accept that he's never going to be a first team regular at Celtic, i wouldn't blame him if he moved on to a team that would allow him a starting berth every week.

He should be though, he always seems to make an impact when he comes on. I think he's proven that he's fit, I mean you don't exactly have to be in the best shape of your life to play striker either. Look at Scott McDonald and Kris Boyd in the SPL. I think Paddy would be great employed up front next to Hooper. Throw in a guy like Bisewar maybe with Commons, Kayal, and Ledley in the midfield and that would be one * of a attacking team.

    why would we sell?

he has that little something that changes games , scored 7 goals this season from few starts. we need to get rid of a lot of deadwood , but paddy should stay . thnik he nearly almost makes a positive impact .

There is no reason to sell. He wont be on major mondo at CP and what he offers is fantastic to have.

I think the reason that he hasnt played since the new year is at that point in the season Commons was signed. He played brilliant at first and we looked really good moving forward. We were playing fast direct football. When Paddy plays he tends to slow it down as he looks for the killer pass and go round people. I think it was just he was fitting into the system at the time.

I thik he is brilliant and is the 1 player at CP I would say is a true entertainer. I hope he stays

Don't think he's on big money. So, why sell him or give him away for free.
Keep him as back up & we may need him if there's a huge injury crisis.
Think he's got another year left in his contract. So, there shouldn't be much of a problem here.

This. He's gifted. If he could just be a bit more consistent he would be a starter every week.
