The Press Have Lennon Demonised

After the attack on Neil Lennon i think the Scottish Press need to have a look at the part they played in the position this poor man and his family find themselves. Sure, our manager speaks from the heart and sometimes i personally think he could hold back on certain things but from the day he took over they've twisted his words, asked questions specifically worded to provoke a reaction or a controversial statement, and then gone running to an opposing manager like a school trouble maker saying "Neil Lennon has just said.....etc etc. The lack of respect they show him is unbelievable and the build up to the Hearts game was a classic example of this. His words where twisted and edited to the point of fiction and they couldnt tell Jim Jeffries quick enough they're version of how Lennon had supposedly said his team lay down to Rangers. This sold thier rags and poured fuel on the fire and in turn put more of a risk onto Neil Lennons doorstep.

 

hahahaa! you nuts? the press dont let things slip! they are like vultures who will pounce on the slightest baw hair to go print the * just to sell a paper! they dont give a rats ringpeice about lenny and it wouldnt surprise me if they are loving all this too to write.

 

The press are loving every minute of this and they are proud of the part they've played in fanning the flames. They need to polarise opinion in order to sell papers. I don't buy any of the Red Top rags as both have at varying times attacked Celtic. They have adopted an approach not to be too critical of a certain SPL club as they fear this will damage their already dwindling circulations. Any Tim that buys the Daily Record or the Sun is in fact supporting these bastions of propaganda whose agenda is clearly anti-Celtic.

 

I agree with this completely, the difference between the press and the huns that are carrying out these attacks is that the press should know better and have the power to influence these minds.

 

The press love what is happning to lenny and they should be ashamed of themselves.. dirty huns!

 

I agree with you, the Daily Ranger has been boycotted by me since Hately wrote an 'impartial' piece earlier in the season. So what 1 person not buying it? Big deal? But lots of celtic fans boycotting it and the Scottish Sun will change things in the long term.

There is the solution to Lennys problems, boycott the papers, simples!

 

Totally agree with everything youve said, when he was caretaker they gave him a honeymoon peried but as soon as he became the manager full time they had their pitch forks out. They printed a picture of his wife and child for f*ch sake while death threats were going on. They only ever printed the pictures after being provoked by "the cheeky chappy" all mccoist. The press built up that game against hearts on Wednesday as the title decider and hearts fans were getting pumped up to celebrate stopping Celtic win the league and when hearts were * and Celtic played them off the park they lost the plot!! The press did not send the bullets (not proven) but they are as much to blame as the nutters that did! Take you back to 2008, Neil Lennon's car gets surrounded by 3 thugs and he gets out and his beat unconscious, what do they do......make a cartoon up and have a laugh, it should have been nipped in the bud then but no they chose to laugh at him....just like bill leckie does and just like tam cowan does on a weekly basis!!!

THE PRESS are very much to blame in this farce that is scottish football at the moment.

If there is one thing both the huns and us celts can agree on its the hatred for the press. they pour fuel on smoldering flames constantly and love altercations. the main one this season being the old firm "riot of a game" with a summit being called etc etc.

i hate the presses inability to take responsibilty whe reporting and just simply condemn what is wrong instead of this sitting on the fence *. for example having 3 pages of celtic interviews 3 pages of rangers and some * in the middle about how they dont agree (usually with lennon).....

its really played devils advocat in scotland!

 

The media here are no worse than they are in England, Spain, Sweden, Italy, America, Canada, Mexico and so on.

To say they are to blame is just downright ridiculous!!

 

Ofcourse they are to blame... the media always make neil lennon out to be the bad guy and they will never say a bad word about walter smith... if the press keep putting words in neils mouth. they are anti celtic just as much as scotland is now becoming more and more anti catholic.

The media make people dislike neil lennon by making him out to be this total bad guy when we all know he is not.

 

The press in Scotland are a * joke. Not one of the red tops is capable of giving a decent match report and resort to ridiculous player ratings to hide the fact that they are incapable of providing an insightful gauge of what actually happened in a football game.

Player ratings!! FFS!!! Has anyone actually considered how * insulting this is. Like we are little children and require an opinion that is no more than a footballing version of Top Trumps.

I dont buy papers any more, I will occasionally pick one up if its lying around. To read the problem page.

They are no more interested in football than the man in the moon and are there as a business to sell papers. They have latched onto the fact that they can spout as much * about our club and manager as they want and get away with it.

As for the nation of Scotland and her 5 million inhabitants being anti Catholic, well again that is utter *. There's a problem in Scotland yes, as there is a racism problem in the USA but it's nowhere near the entire population.

And yes the media can portray Lennon in a bad light but to say they are responsible for the bomb threats because of it is bollox.

I believe there is a legal reason to the silence on the tax issue.

If you read the paper without tinted specs on you'll see both clubs get it as bad as each other. The huns are always saying the press have it in for them and you never hear about Celtic fans fighting in the crowd etc. Which is also nonsense
