Arsenal fans signing about adaboyer and his team mates getting shot. Spurs fans signing racist chants at Arsenal players, Everton and Liverpool fans throwing missles onto the pitch. Millwall and West ham fans fighting sure the English leagues have no problems

I can appreciate why they see us as a collective. Perhaps not the exact same but certainly as a similar breed.

When we went down to Manchester we hardly made a lot of friends by singing IRA songs in a city that was bombed by the said terrorists! Leaving politics aside, that was idiotic and you cannot then claim it is awful that English fans want nothing to do with us. This may not be as bad as the other half who rioted in their streets, but it is still horrible and an embarrassment to the club.

Similarly I do think we can have much of an argument when our fans fly banners comparing the British army to devils in * and refuse to honour rememberance for our countries war dead, and then they wonder why an English PL may not want us!

This isnt an issue of "us being as bad as them". I believe rangers are a lot worse as a collective than any other club in Britain. I also appreciate there are many idiots who support clubs throughout Scotland and England and the English themselves have had many issues with football hooliganism. But while we have a sizable but noisy minority who revel in telling us all about the IRA and their hatred of the British, I cannot see why anyone couldnt see why the EPL would not be impressed as why it is easy to categorise the two teams as the "old firm"

    To the penguin fellow.

Your the type of fan Celtic dosen't need. I go to every game at home. Have done for 15 years. Hated the sining then, hate it now. It is no surprise, and I am positive you will come up with some kind of positive bullshit retort to this, that when any of the songs you seem to enjoy are being sung, almost the entire stadium goes quiet except for one tiny wee section. Most Celtic fans that go to the games are embarrassed by the pro IRA chanting. It has to die and die now.

So I know your now going to reply with all kinds of justifications and lessons from history. Here's a lesson for you, out of the 60,000 in a full stadium at CP, you'd be lucky to find 5% that want to act and be like you. The rest of us are sick of it Aand want rid of it. You are keeping us down, holding us back. You are what keeps us tied to Scotlands Shame because you are Celtics Shame.

You should just go and support Rangers, they love spouting meaningless *, bathed in hatred.

You are the problem side of our support.

yesbut the difference is that celtic and rangers would be invited guests to the epl party i.e. not english. therefore any reasonable excuse not to have us will do, and celtic and rangers give them all the ammo they need.

and to those they say they dont want us to leave scotland, why? Every aspect of the club would be improved.

Well there was quite a big, nay, massive outcry here when the Poppy 'protests' happened (2009 against Killie? Can't remember exactly and against Arsenal etc.).

Hardly a way to endear ourselves to the English is it?

Thing is some people seem to forget that not everyone is a Hun hating Tim sympathiser down south.
The reaction down here to our 'Republican' songbook is pretty much as you would expect (or not for the blinkered amongst us) in that it's seen with disgust.
    And last weekend hardly helped.

Yes the songs may or may not be about the 70s, 80s and 90's mainland bombing campaigns specifically but singing IRA etc. at every away game when you have allusions about joining a League in the country directly affected by the IRA bombings is a bit.... tasteless and their reaction hardly surprising.

Like i have said in numerous other threads the average English football fan would describe us as thus; The IRA supporting club. Whether we like it or not we have built a rod for our own back and we must be big bhoys and accept the result.

I follow my team evetywhere and sing my heart out every week. Yet I am fan Celtic doesn't need? Pathetic.

I will sing about my country's heroes week in week. No one will stop me as long as we still play Let The People Sing at parkhead and fly the flag of Ireland about.

Again we will not be criminalized or persecuted by you or anyone else. There's nothing wrong with singing ahout Irish heroes who fought for independence and there never will be.

Just like there's nothing wrong with singing about William Wallace and George Washington.

How can you say he's the type of fan Celtic doesn't need? You don't decide that do you.

And to say 5% of the fans have IRA sympathies is just ridiculous. I would put that figure at above 50%. Those who don't are certainly not "embarrassed" by it. They respects other peoples views and beliefs.

I don't think anyone can say that Celtic don't need the type of supporter who follows the team all over the place no matter what.

Celtic themselves will tell you that you can't have enough of these supporters.

Some people seem to be * themselves because of certain songs. I hope they never go abroad to see other football games, because I can assure you, there's plenty more evil, sinister and worse things happening at those games...

What a bullshit post, even have to laugh at the 5% part, lol. The only reason teh majority dont sing them anymore i sbecause teh politicans have got into their heads and fcuked our once atmosphere up. Go back a few years , even as recent as teh MON year sand you will hear teh whole stadium sing our republican songs, not just 5%

Unfortunately with this kind of behaviour it just allows the press to think we are a load of republic sympathisers singing songs about blowing people up especially down in England who suffered at the hands of the IRA .

Yeah and English clubs don't sing anything that others might find offensive! The home of football hooliganism. :56:

What is wrong with being a republican sympathiser? It is a legitimate political view and I don't know any song that glorifies blowing people up that is sung at Celtic Park or the travelling support.

You are completely delusional if you're trying to suggest 95% of fans are sick of such chants. 95% of Parkhead don't sing full stop, no matter whether its Celtic songs or songs about historical events. That's cos most fans are happy to sit on their * at home games and let the Green Brigade get on with it. I think it is a bit of a joke that people who don't bother their * to go to away games then have the cheek to slate the away support.

I honestly believe more fans would sing if they didn't feel like they were * people off who sit round them, there are too many who moan about everything. If the tickets weren't so expensive the atmosphere would be much better because it's the prawn sandwich brigade that look down their noses at the fans who want to sing.
