They should voice at the people singing it not from behind a computer screen. As many of us said next time a republican song starts at Celtic Park or away. They should ask them to stop and see what happens. In the mean time people shouldn't tell me how to support my team.

The majority of fans actually at the games want to sing these songs, if they didn't then the songs wouldn't be able to be heard. I don't think it is for you or anyone else to tell anyone else how to support their team, as long as they are within the realms of the law, which they are. Why should they stop because someone who isn't even at the game (not meaning you particularly) doesn't like certain songs.

Too many people who want to forget Celtic's history, it really is sad.

Here's a crazy thought for you. Why give your opponents a means to attack you via your own actions? The media are looking for any excuse to have a go at Celtic and engage in the age old mantra that 'we're both as bad as each other', even though anyone with an IQ over 80 can attest that this is not so.
We need to be smarter than this; stop singing about the IRA but keep the rebel tunes going. Sing the Soldiers Song and other rebel tunes without the add ons and you will succeed in winding these cretins up without putting the club in the spotlight.

Fair enough. But if you are willing to chant about the IRA then you're actually damaging the reputation of the Club and giving our opponents an opportunity to criticise us. Why do their job for them, especially if (as you claim) you don't give a * about them?

Great question. Too many 'support' Celtic in the same way a rope supports the hanged man

The fans who are attending the games and putting money into Celtic are damaging the club. Aye right.

Question: Do you think, if Celtic support was to 100% cut out any song mentioning the Provisional IRA and IRA of old, would
    a) the media would stop giving us any sort of hard time?
    b) other teams in Scotland would like us and our fans?

Like I said we are complaining on a high level if you just have a look at other European teams and their support.

Ultimately the media will always write negative stuff if they want. there is always something to be found.. even if they have to bring up stuff that had happened long time ago.

Still it's funny how the media always point out our IRA songs, yet do they ever write something about the racist crap the huns sing?

at the end of the day we really shouldn't gve a * what the scottish media has to say. bigoted midgets behind keyboards are just not worth the time.

I can assure you, on the continent, Celtic's reputation is just excellent.

You are if your actions put the club in a position where it faces criticism. If you think the collective amount you put into the club is greater than the damage caused by singing pro IRA chants then fair play to you. But just think about how this could be used as a rod to beat the club down, detract from the real issue that the Huns are the main cause of sectarianism and enable their apologists in the media to rationalise it all as a problem affecting both clubs.
If you think this has no impact on our Club then you're wrong.

It faces criticism from a bunch of people most of us couldn't give a * about. Nothing wrong with singing Pro IRA chants. The media are being ignorant to history if they think otherwise.

No, but it would strengthen Celtic with respect to thr PR battle and reduce the efficacy of our rivals. The songbook of the Hoops is 90% non sectarian, we sing about past players, past glories, past teams and the rebel tunes are in no way sectarian. But when you throw in the IRA stuff, you're not referring to the club as you're talking about a movement that has nothing directly to do with Celtic FC.
I don't get why some among our support are willing and ready to deliberately inflict damage on our Club when they're enough * in Scotland who wish to do the same.

Id like to see a list of songs you've heard sung by Celtic fans this season that you think we shouldn't sing please?

Just to see where you're coming from exactly.

What relevance to the IRA have to Celtic? Did Martin McGuinness play up front for the hoops prior to joining the IRA? We are a football club with a strong Irish heritage that also operate as a club open to all. The club never had a sectarian or racist signing policy and this is one of the great strengths about our club. It's one of the reason why you see people in other parts of the world wearing the hoops.
