Next Season

Next season realistically everyone is talking about CL football and alot of last 8 chat i think if i was lenny i would look at driving the team forward we arent going to win the champions league so its just a case of getting as far as possible eventually but lenny is has got a good team together and good grounding outstanding support and backing from every neutral imaginable so starting in summer the things i would look for would be clearing the deadwood signing a quality keeper spending money if neccesary a solid centre half as people have said this bhoy kelvin wilson might not be upto scratch another midfielder could be on the cards if we are getting rid of mccourt mcginn jaurez etc and a towering centre forward who can bully defences and play route 1 like a champ and i would be looking for Europa league football and maybe winning it if not winning it semi final or final would do as this would be a good sign of progress remembering its only his second season teams in england have taken ages to get there it took our best ever team imo since jock stein to make the final but i dont think lenny is far off it i would be looking at mccarthy as the midfeilder upson from west ham and doyle long doyle wins alot of balls in the air and long would be a good addition imo maybe even hunskelper but i think sammy could do a job away in the europe aswell what is everyones thoughts

 

I think you're being a bit enthusiastic talking about the semis/final of the europa league. I remember people saying we would win the europa league when mowbray was in charge and we couldnt even get past the group stage.

We could maybe get to the quarters but no further and I think we will qualify for the champions league and finish 3rd in our group and thats considering we get some reinforcements in.

If we manage to keep our best players i.e. kayal izaguiree and add some similar quality who knows what could happen?

 

No harm in dreaming mate - perhaps next time you could dream using full stops and paragraphs?

 

Anyone that thinks we'll reach the last 8 of the Champions League is mugging themselves off.

If we win the SPL this season I'd be happy with winning it again next season and reaching the Group Stage of the Champions League.

 

next season my goal would be to prove the class difference from the "old firm" and show we are better than rankers! as i believe this is there last song and dance this season. so maybe win league by 10-15 points.

a decent run in champs league, would not be dissapointed with group stage knock out (3rd in group).

and really push to get a domestic treble (however with all the games it is a very hard feat.)

overall to consolidate what we have built this season and keep our top stars and maybe add 2 more quality players after kelvin wilson. Maybe 2 x proven players with experience.

I think looking into next season is to soon, we haven't even won a throphy since 08. Thats reality, we aren't even garrented to secure a group stage place even if we win the league. We can talk about the next seasons champions league run when we actually get into the competition.

I do think well get quite far in europa league last 8 which ill be happy with. Would hate to go out so early again.

first and foremost, winning the title is a must. then negotiating difficult qualifiers. if we do that, and it's a big 'if', then i'd be delighted for a 3rd place finish in the CL and quarter finals of the Europa League. if you think we'll get anything better on either front, you're away with the fairies.

as PakistaniBhoy said, i remember people predicting we'd get to the final of the Europa League with Mowbary...bumped back to Earth.

personally, i think progress for me would be not having another Artmedia or Utrecht moment during qualifiers for the CL or Europa.

 

Not quite.

If we win the league we go into the 3rd round qualifiers, providing Schalke don't win this seasons tournament, which would put us in at the 2nd round stage.

If we finish second, then it's the Europa League.

 

I'd be happy with a 3rd place Group Stage finish and a good run in the Europa League knock-out phase, however like most people have said lets actually win the SPL and then qualify to get to the groups first

1st we should worry about ICT tomorrow, then the remaining games.

If we win the double, I'll be enjoying that this summer & not really be too worried about CL qualification - especially if we keep Lenny & his team.

It's obvious we need to tweak the squad a wee bit, but with the major dismantling & rebuilding that went on last season - winning a double with a rookie manager would be an incredible feat....I'll enjoy savouring that for a wee while 1st.

Mate we will find it difficult enough to get through the final qualifying round for the Champs League. Do you not remember Arsenal this season?

its a fairly good point you mkae, and i feel your excitement , a few tweaks and we have a greatteam , will be an interesting summer

 

A few good new players and abit of good luck and we should be able to compete in the uefa cup this season. This is what i want celtic to win in the next 5-10 years because the cl is way to out of our league. I would honestly love it if we got to another final and win it this time,, look if that rangers team got to the final a few seasons ago then anything is possible.
