How will the current squad do in the CL?
Is this a serious question, because if it is, you are joking surely?
Nae chance!

 

Just getting into the Group Stages would be awesome! As far as moving out of groups into knockout rounds...wishful thinking for sure. I would love to see it happen though!

This squad needs improve a lot to compete in the CL with a real chance of advancing. I believe that it can get there in a few years IF a few key factors fall into place:

1. Lenny stays on
2. Hooper and Stokes keep progressing and become key strikers that are consistently scoring.
3. We sign another striker that develops into (or already is) a 10-15 goal scorer
4. We improve the back line with (as others have mentioned) addition of at least 2 quality CBs.
5. A Keeper (one with CL experience would be a nice addition)
6. Lady luck stays with us in the competition <-this being the most important factor

Fun to think about what might be though

 

well you're the only one who seems him as anything like alan hutton . hes far better than that. "one of the best " ...behind naisy, jellyfish and doofy

 

I would like to see a proven striker with European experience and obviously center backs as well. I think we should do well...all depends on who we draw in the playoffs as well
It's a pitty we dont get straight advancement to the group stages, but in Lenny we trust.

Nooooo , he's lived his ' dream ' if he really wantd to play for celtic he'd have came out and admitted it / tried for a move, cant really blame him either, that state of the pitches compaired to the EPL, he'll stay in england, imo hooper is just as good if not better on his day, We need a target man, Sammi & Murphy were suppose to be our target men but havent done enough, someone for hooper/stokes to feed off of, wouldnt mind seeing Carew or Elmander, both are tall and strong, elmander has a bit of pace and both will be free

 

We're still well short of quality and will struggle to get there unfortunately.

Izaguirre, Brown, Kayal and Hooper are certainly good enough.

 

If we get into teh group stages, if, I'd say 3rd place finish. Hopefully get a good wee run in the Europa League

 

need to win the SPL and negotiate qualifiers. if we do that and add a goalie, centre back, striker and maybe a cover for left back and a versatile midfielder i would expect a 3rd place finish and a good run in the Europa League.

 

I think it will be tough to even qualify to CL. Remember, we are still far behind, even if we this year have played great. I think we need, one or two solid defenders, and one good striker.

nae point in getting angry over a wee * that has a huge ego. I knew keano was a * before he came to celtic, same with his older cousin Roy. Once a * always a *, that's the keane way

 

i think we'd be the unknown package in the CL next season and with the ability in our squad at the moment i see no reason why we cant go as far as the quarter finals maybe even further

What's with all the Robbie Keane hate? So the guy wants to play in the EPL and wants to earn more money than Celtic can afford to pay him.........woopy * do! Show me an EPL player of Robbie Keane's quality that wouldn't fall into the same bracket.

One day guys like Izaguirre and Kayal are going to leave Celtic and the chances are they will leave Celtic to play in the EPL and to earn more money. Are we going to turn around and start laying into them when they do so?

I would have loved Robbie Keane to sign for us permanently but Celtic couldn't afford him and he probably didn't want to sign permanently. That sucks but that's life. Personally I'm grateful to Keano for the goals he scored towards the end of last season, they stopped a really bad season being a totally calamitous one.

 

I still don't like him and never have liked him regardless of wether every other player would do it. He's got a massive ego and it's plagued him his whole football career, that's why a player as good as him is sitting with one trophy and it serves him right.
