After my xbox jacking it after 5 years i'm gonna need to get a new one but moneys short so all i'm after is the cheapest one really i think it's the core or the arcade so thought i would ask here instead of going to gamestation and having some geek try and sell me the most expensive one after having a look on sites all i can see is black ones with super harddrives for over £200 and theres no chance i'm giving microsoft £200 when my super nintendo still * works after 12 years so just a few questions..

Whats the cheapest and best site for a new not pre-owned one ?

Can i still use my old harddrive ?

Can i still use my old HDMI/Scart cable ?

Can i still get everything on Xbox live that i usually got ?

    Cheers Hail Hail :shamrock:

for the best prices check amazon, ebay, and google shop. they will give you a good variation on prices

you can only use your old hard drive if its an older generation xbox, the new xbox ultimate uses a new kind of harddrive. This shouldnt bother you though, game saves can be easily transferred with a memory card. Anything you have bought through Xbox Live will still be available for download on any xbox you transfer your gamertag to.

your HDMI and scart cable will work fine on any generation of xbox, its one thing they never changed. the only cable that has changed is the power cable for the new xbox ultimate, it no longer has a power station stuck in the middle of it :56:

like i said previously, everything you have bought with your gamertag will still be available on any xbox you transfer your gamertag too, xbox recognises the gamertag has purchased something once and wont ask for it again. This is pretty handy cause I have a few mates that added their gamertag to my own xbox so i can download the games they paid for for free :D to play them though you have to be signed into their profile.

hope these answers help, if you have any more let me know :50:

in my personal opinion, i would stump up the cash for the new xbox ultimate. looks far better, runs far better, better cooling, and ALOT less noise. im sure you know what i mean, the old xbox sounds like an extractor fan and can heat up a room hahaha

Thanks Bhoys i have just done the towel trick for a second time the last time it lasted for 2 months so might get saving and the more i think of it might be worth getting a black fancy one but would settle for an arcade whats the crack with the warranty on pre owned consoles got told it's just your standard 28 day returns ?

With the whole new hard drive etc. can see that microsoft will know people will buy a memory card to transfer stuff if they get a new xbox giving them even more money and getting sales up on memory cards fly *.

yeah they are all money stealing so-and-so's at microsoft, everything has to be paid for :38:

the 28 day return may be the store policy, but microsoft stand over their xbox's for a whole year. I think you have to get in contact with them (microsoft) to sort out claiming the warranty and not the shop you bought it in. A buddy of mine has no luck with xbox at all, he is flying through them BUT an advantage is as soon as he gets a new one under warranty from the previous broken one the year warranty begins over again on the new one. I think he has went through 5-6 xboxs easily. I put that down to too much smoke in the room its in though, ive little or no bother with mine in a smokeless room

You could always send in the xbox for a out of warranty repair 80 quid if you do online an you get a year warranty on the xbox worth looking at if cash is tight
