IMO Samaras is the ultimate enigma of a football player. He has something that can be quite special at times. He has the ability to be an excellent player. His problem is consistency. He doesn't display his full potential anywhere near often enough to be a regular in the team. His display in the New Year game was truly excellent, but what has he contributed since. He played OK in all the other games against the Sassenach's, but no better than OK.

I would always go with Hooper and Stokes when fit. They have a good partnership and understanding together. Samaras is definitely a good option as an impact player from the bench. I do think that people really should lay off Sammy though. He hit the penalty well enough yesterday and the beast made a good save. What can you do but make the keeper work?

I agree with some of the stuff you say, not all of it.

Was a good night last year, remember practically * all though. :97:

I think some of the criticism of Sammy yesterday was way OTT, I'm never his biggest fan but I thought he put in a good shift.

I am angry, but do not crucify Sammy. He was hero when he scored double. This is not his season, so what? I think draw is fair. What if Sammy scores the most important goal in the last game of the season and help us to win the league? Then he will be great. He is only man and everyone makes mistakes. I think Sammy feels terrible, more terrible then us...:54:

I understand Samaras can be frustrating and inconsistent but people are quick to forget the good things he's done. Double against Rangers, the last goal against Motherwell which was a crucial game a few seasons back, late winner against Moscow.

Now if it would have been Kayal that had an average game and missed the penalty, you wouldn't be slagging him off. Samaras doesn't score goals, but he's a handful for defenders.

The difference is Kayal is excellent most of the time, with the odd mistake. Samaras is poor most of the time with the odd good performance.

Celtic play best when we play fast attacking football, with quick passing and fluid movement. Samaras is the opposite of that. He slows everything down, never sees a pass to a team-mate and is always selfish.

I slag him because I don't think he is very good for Celtic, not because he had one penalty saved. I don't think it was a terrible penalty, I think it was very good goalkeeping.

Neil played him because he was happy to get a draw. Samaras is more of a target man and an easy out ball than our other strikers. He is capable of killing more time and holding the ball up. That's fine against Rangers at Ibrox, when we are happy to share the points, but not for other games when we need to win. I would not want to see him play again.

3 goals in 30 odd games is a joke for a celtic striker. a dont know how people can defend the guy. he made hooper look bad yesterday . his link up play is terrible . stokes done more in 20 minutes than samaras done all game.

The fact is, when we played Stokes and Hooper up front, we got pumped 3 - 1 on our own turf. When we played Samaras, we were dominant in possession and Samaras was one of our best players.

That's an unfair analogy, most of them were fairly new and hadn't gelled into a team.

Stokes and Hopper are our best partnership and has shown it loads of times. Samaras scored against Rangers at Ibrox, and that's pretty much his contribution for the season.

    3 points.

Oh and we didn't lose any goals that day, what a massive contribution that was.

We didn't lose any yesterday either, massive contribution.

So it was just merely 3 points that day then ?

Nonsense, that win turned our season around and was one of the sweetest derby wins in years given that no one, including the majority of Celtic fans, gave us a chance that day.

If we didn't win that day then we wouldn't be in the position we are in now, it's that simple.
