He was our best player the first half of the season, and is one of the most technically gifted and talented players in the squad. If people like you were in charge we would have punted larsson and petrov who both started off poor and didnt really reach their full potential until their 2nd year, ki has only been here about 14 months.

Very true bigwilly, also think we need to use him in his preferred role, hes trying to be made into some deep lying holder and playmaker when he should be pushed up the park, laying in through balls, switching the play quickly and getting shots on target.

He excels for Korea as part of a 5 man midfield and if we are in europe next season i think he would also excel were we to play a superior team and 5 in midfield was required.

How could they actually make a list of 25 players(and none of them reminds Zidane in his style btw), and not include probebly the only player in the world right now that does resemble Zidane in his style of play - and that is Ganso from Santos ?

Ki has a terrific eye for a pass, very creative player... but recently it seems like that's all he's got. He doesn't seem to take on players much, he isn't very physical and he doesn't get forward enough. But he's still young, and I'm confident he'll improve on certain aspects of his game.

I'm always laughing when I hear about "new Zidane", "new Maradona", "new Messi". Actually, I wonder how many "new Maradona's" were before Messi, 100? 200? And how many of them made top career? None.

I can hardly believe some of the negativity that some of our support direct towards Ki. He is a very accomplished young player and we should make the most of his talents whilst we have him.
He is always available to receive the ball and is composed in possession, he always looks up to spot a pass and his distribution is good. I'd like to see him hit the target more, but I'd say that about any player. He is quite different from our combatitive midfielders, who run around snapping into tackles and getting into players faces. Maybe the SPL is not the perfect environment for a player like Ki, but I enjoy watching a calm composed performer just as much as I enjoy seeing Scott Brown or Beram Kayal going about their business in the way that they do.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, ki is the weak link in our midfield. The ki does not fit shall we say. Perhaps he would be better suited to a differant league. People who say he was our best player for the first half of the season, Celtic where poor for the first half of the season and only started to play good football from the game at ibrox, and strangly enough ki missed most of they games.

Zizou was truly a technical wonder..
but I think he was at his best at Real when Makelele was vacuuming up everything behind him..
funny that real stopped winning when they traded Claude..
shows that a team is all about balance.
I really like Ki. Love that calm, technical composure he has. He won't reach his peak for another four, five years... but I don't know..just seems like the team loses balance when he plays..think his deliberate technical style is best suited for Seria A... the team just seems to be out of sync with him in a midfield four..

im not a fan of labelling players "the next zidane" or "the next maradona" and so on. I just think it places unesseccary pressure on a player. if a player develops in the correct manner they will lose this label anyway. so is a not a bit pointless? for me whilst its good for players' skills and abilities to be compared to the greats, young players should be encouraged to develop their own personal identity and work to create their own name and legacy. celebrate originality.

Havent seen anything bar a few glimpses of something good. He is far too laxed on the ball and doesnt have the required impetus when the chips are down. I would let him go tbh and I dont think that Celtic would suffer from it at all.

If he is to stay then I would only play him in a 5 man midfield. He doesnt have the work rate or graft to play CM with 1 other player.

    Exactly.

As for Ki, I think he can develop to be a great player, but he's got a long way to go yet.

i think the guy has the potential to be a * of a player but im sick of watching him crapping out of tackles he did it a good few times on sunday. its hard to sit and watch when he goes in to a 50/50 with davis and he pulls out of the challenge at the last minute and davis comes out with the ball and starts an attack. yes he has ability can pass, shoot but like samaras he needs to buckle down and relise that when youve not got the ball you need to tackle and work hard to get the ball back until he does that he wont be the player he has the potential to be.
