To be fair this is not Mulgrew`s fault it`s Lennon`s we have had ONLY 5 seasons to fix our defence and 3 managers couldnt fix it. It`s still a shambles when any team puts pressure on us. we should have built from the back and yet the defence has been left to rot yet again.

Mulgrew was pish he was made to look better due to rogne being even worse Mulgrew was exactly the same v the huns early on in the season high balls over the top and he shat his pants and again he done the same yesterday both not good enough .

If the huns can tear them apart like that we will be made laughing stocks in Europe with a defence like that.

Great squad player can be a back up centre back at a push even left back and left wing but i would much rather we sort out the defence with new players what we have now will not work long term .

He is a good centre half but he needs experience alongside him, same with Rogne. Alot of people didnt realise how important Maj is until now, including me. Will he be back in time for the split or is he out for the rest of the season :38: If hes out for the mordor game then i think we should play Loovens over either Mulgrew or Rogne. There is said it.

I've said from day one that Mulgrew would falter badly at some point and he's now done it twice, against motherwell and against the huns yesterday. I can't fault him for effort but he's just not a born centre half, really exposed.

Mulgrew failed to make the tackle on Jelavic which led to the winning goal though.

I thought both Rogne and Mulgrew played poorly.

That's the first time I've criticised Rogne this season though, I think he's been solid for us. He definitely didn't look himself, it was the wrong decision to start him because he wasn't 100% fit and it was his first game in a while. He played poorer than Mulgrew in my opinion.

I'm not going to tear into Mulgrew because he's not a central defender. Even when played at left-back his main weakness is the defensive side to his game. He has done well at centre-back but I was really hoping that it was only a short-term thing because I still don't trust him defensively.

The simple fact is, our defence is weak in the centre. Motherwell proved this when they went two up front against us and defeated us. The huns proved it again yesterday by setting up more offensively. A lot of people said at the time (including myself), that they were very worried because we didn't bring in a CB during the January window, we left it until the last few weeks to even show interest.

thought charlie was carrying rogne yesterday, think we missed maj.

bit unfair for mulgrew to be picked out marky mate, thought he was one of our best players yesterday, considering how poor his defensive partner was, Rogne was poor.

The difference yesterday was we were missing big Dan, he gives that bit of experience alongside Mulgrew who isn't a natural CB, that's always going to help. Yesterday Mulgrew seemed to have to carry Rogne.

Defending has always been the weak point in Mulgrews game and I believe this spell at CB will bring him along alot when he ends up back in his own position.

I think Rogne is still a good defender with alot of potential but I think atm he needs experience alongside him.

I like Mulgrew at centre back. With all our defenders there I would feel completely happy with Maj and Mulgrew as our first choice centre backs. Hes quite a composed player and hasnt done much wrong apart from in the game against motherwell where he failed to clear the ball which lead ot the first goal. But thats just down to lack of experience.

He kind of reminds me of a young david weir...:p

That fact mulgrew is playing a cb shows that lennon and that are not confident of glenda or rogne, so you cant blame mulgrew for other players failing to carry out there duties, he came here a left back albeit he played a few games for the sheep at cb. He saved rognes * a cpl of times.
On a positive note i would say dan and charlie are our best pairing, dans expierence makes up for chas lack of and cha brings a bit of speed to the back line also he has an ok outball and is quite composed on the ball.
Certainly wouldnt say he is the long term soloution but he is the best wev got till we can dip in to the market. Have faith in him :50:

I thought Mulgrew was ok on Sunday, he was made to look slightly worse because Rogne had a mare. (I still rate Rogne highly btw.)

This situation is very similar to Gary Caldwell's tenure at Celtic. He was a decent ball playing centre half but when you play beside someone who has a mare i.e McManus (but he had a mare every week) then you are prone to one yourself because you are pulled out of position to cover for someone else's mistakes.

I do however think Both Rogne and Mulgrew are best suited to play alongside an experienced centrehalf like Daniel. They could forge a partnership at the back but they will need to be given time. It is just unfortunate that due to injuries and other issues that Sunday was the first time they had played together and Rogne had a shocker. I'm sure however that they will learn from their mistakes and put in far better performances.

As for the people that don't think Mulgrew is a centre half. You just need to watch his previous games again and compare them to his appearances at leftback and re assess your opinion.

I only seen highlights of the game cause my employers were tight arseholes and from what I saw, Mulgrew appeared to be steady enough in comparison to Rogne who seemed to struggle to even clear his lines. We also have a major problem with distribution from the back when under pressure. Needs sorted if we want to win the title. We're better than rangers but we have shown smith some weaknesses.

We always look to the defense,Mulgrew was one of our better players yesterday doing more than one man';s job. What about Commons who never showed up? What about Hooper missing in action? What about Brown not in the game? Were was Kayal, off day. never a word? Where was Samaras in second half non existent? Where were all the players on front of the defense, watching the play.
No guts either forward line of midfield what do we expect? Was it Hopper or Commons who mouthed off to the press, what they were going to do in the game to Rangers. Defese starts in the forward line.

Mulgrew is one of my candiates for player of the year if he continues his form. To step into that hard a position and keep high amounts of clean sheets is unbeilavable.

Mulgrew and Brown looked the only players that wanted to win on Sunday
