5 in 8 for Commons

What a signing Kris Commons has been, I remember reading some peoples views on here when he signed & people saying they couldn't get excited because he was a Scottish Player, Well Scottish International player, but he has slotted in well for Celtic since coming up & all his goals have been special, along with Kayal, Izaguirre & Hooper he is up there as Lenny's best signing of the season & you can only wonder how good it could have been had Commons signed in the Summer instead of January.

6 Minutes into his debut he scored a stunner, a part from maybe Barry Robson when he scored with his first touch against Aberdeen, has any other player scored as quick in to there debut? For me I think a fully fit Shaun Maloney (In form) would find it hard to shift Commons out the side, he has been a breath of fresh air & I think he's shocked a lot of fans of just how good he is & how well he has settled in, his passing & crossing is by far the best in the side, his deliveries are so good & he can unleash a screamer at any moment when he is in a 40 yard radius of the goal.
He is 8 games in to his Celtic career & has already scored 5 goals, should have been 6 but we will forgive him for hitting the post at Pittodrie, we are looking at a midfielder who is guaranteed to get 15+ a season from Midfield & for £300k that is a steal!

29th Jan 11' - Goal against Aberdeen at Hampden (Co-Op Semi Final)
6th Feb 11' - Goal against Rangers at Ibrox (Scottish Cup 4th Round)
20th Feb 11' - Goal against Rangers at Celtic Park (SPL)
5th March 11' - Two Goals against Hamilton at Celtic Park (SPL)

 

What was the most goals McGeady got in a season all in, about 8 or something. Commons is everything a winger should be and what McGeady should have been! All about the end product.

He is a quality player, absolutely no doubt. 5 goals in his first 8 games for the club is a really impressive return. The £300,000 price tag was repaid once he scored against Rangers at Ibrox.

Absolutely love him got excited when we signed him great player never doubted him. Paddy and Shaun won't have a look in me thinks. He's brilliant can cross, shoot and pass and suprisingly quick and agile for his stature. Great signing Lenny keep em coming.

 

Kris Commons has been a sensational signing for us. Five goals in eight games, including two in two seperate games against Rangers, that is some going.Commons could turn out to be the most significant signing Lenny has made, as he is delivering goals and assists from wide left, something that has been lacking for a long time now, and he is as strong as an ox with it too.

Again, thank * Rangers's didn't * him out of our fingers.

 

Followed him at Derby and Scotland. Never doubted his abilities. He wins a lot of free kicks as well as scoring.

 

Great value for the money. Getting up there with Izzy, Hopper and Kayal as our top player

Hes won me over big time with his performances I always will be of the opinion we didn't need another winger with 5 already on the books but he's cemented the left flank as his and I can't see anyone taking it off him unless he gets injured

 

his quality has really surprised me

 

He isn't really a winger, today him and Stokes seemed to interchange in behind Samaras. You rarely see him standing out wide he's always in the middle. More of a Moravcik style attacking midfielder than a winger, started off well though.

 

Why do a lot of fans when one player is doing well put down another player 'McGeady this, McGeady that' 'Samaras didn't do that but he does' .

He has been a very good signing though yes.

Would still like to see Paddy on the other wing though, with Kayal and Broon/Ki/Ledley in the middle.

 

I agree. hes not really a winger. He is not all that great at beating a man but he has a great sense of being in the right spot at the right time and is a good team player. Looks casual and limited sometimes on the ball but he is very effective and has probably scored more than any winger at Celtic in a season since Maloney scored about 15? six years back. Commons is a total bargain. I much prefer these flexible winger-*-striker players than old fashioned touchline wingers.

 

excellent signing and really rubs it into rangers as they wanted him so win win and really seems to be happy as part of a team which in all fairness was a criticism of mcgeady
