Probably just means Irishmen set up the Club and originally Irish people suppported the club over the decades these Irish people have become more and more Scottish by living here and mixing with the Scottish and having kids born in Scotland.

The Irish community in Scotland set up and were the club so you could say we are an Irish club based in Scotland.

Englishmen set up Inter Milan I think, if Milan was in Wales and it was all English people who lived in that area originally and them who supported this "English club" in Wales 100 years ago then they could also be claimed to be an English club based in Wales however since there was no notible English area of Milan the original fans were Italians so they'll probably only claim to be founded by an Englishmen but Celtic were founded by an Irishmen and supported by the Irish so could claim really to be Irish which has been watered down over the century.

A good way to put it is Is Pizza really Italian food nowadays? everyones adopted it and they have been made everywhere for decades now. It was originally Italian but is it now not Italian? or would you still class Pizzas as Italian?

Columbus founded America, does that make it Italian?

As for the Irish songs sung by Celtic which makes Celtic Irish in your mind... we also sing a song by Depeche Mode, which would therefore make Celtic English :97:

But can you not see his point?

Irishmen started the club, the original support of the club was probably 70% Irish and 20% really Irish but maybe born in Scotland to Irish parents and then the 10% of local Scottish people who decided to join in the fuss.

Is Pizza Italian food or not now Italian in your opinion?

Italian. I'm not having a dig at you, but what's your reasoning for asking this question?

Well why do you think its Italian?

Because Italian people invented it and it was Italians who ate it?

Why is it still Italian? They make them everywhere now and have done for decades?

Same with Celtic, it was the Irish who invented it and the Irish who "consumed" the product before anyone else, would that not make us Irish?

    Are Cardiff Welsh?

Would you be Jamaican if you moved to Jamaica? or woould you end up Jamaican because youve been there for so long or would you remain your original nationality?

Celtic first last and overall; Scotland bore me to tears and have no interest in anything they do other thanmaking sure our players avoid playing for them

It really is quite disturbing how many people are adamant that Celtic are an Irish club.

I wouldnt say anyone is "adamant" about anything. We either are or we're not.

Would you class Cardiff as an English Club because they play in England?
What would you class an Irish Embassy in Japan or example? An Irish "club" in Japan or an Japanese "club" based about Ireland.
Woud you class a Pizza as Italian food, or just worldwide food now as the Originality of the "Italian-ness" has been watered down through the decades that it can no longer be classed as Italian.

If anything I would say we were Irish. The creators and original fanbase were just like i'd call Pizza an Italian food or Cardiff a Welsh club.

To me the original thing which is the Club was Irish and it always has remained so, even though the future generations have become Scottish. Just like My Granny was Irish, she never became Scottish througha time period she always is and will be Irish despite the next generations becoming more and more scottish.

We may be more Scottish now but at the start we were Irish and it wont change through time.

Your a good one for facts, but we dont have an Irish owner. We have an Irishman as a major shareholder, but he doesnt own the club.

There are no Scottish songs sung at any club games!! Unless you can name one club that sings Flower of Scotland or Scotland the Brave!! The reb songs and athenry are sung as a recognition of Celtics Irish roots, which I and am sure the majority of supporters are proud of.

The saltires need no explanation, for the same reasons as the songs, there are few Saltires flown at any grounds. Clubs tend to have flags of their own colours. Where their colours are blue they will fly the Saltire, as we fly it in a green colour, Hearts in Maroon, Utd in Tangerine. The tri colours also represent the actual colours associated with the club, and again celebrate their Irish roots. This is in no way an acceptance that they are an Irish club!! You would have to be very naive to think this.

Has that explained it for you?
