1st off ive no problem with scottish supporting celtic fans but in a genuine way id like to understand why they do? Its just because the high majority of scottish celtic fans are of irish descent and thus are not scottish in blood so i cant see how its possible to support the likes of mcgregor, miller, boyd etc

I was born in Glasgow to irish parents who moved here in 1982 just 5 years before i was born and apart from my accent there is nothing scottish about me and the thought of supporting scotland never crossed my mind when growing up, not just because of the amount of huns that play for scotland im not sectarian but because theres not a scottish bone in my body

i hate international football...it used to be that international sides had the best teams in the world and therefor worth watching......nowadays club sides can afford to buy the best players in the world regardless of nationality......and thats why for me the champions league now eclipses the world cup as the primo football competition.

Personal choice, but talking about "blood" & "Nationality" is kinda funny to me.

Patriotism & Religion have probably caused every War between them, we've seen how the *'s used that card so successfully.

I'm Scottish with Irish heritage, I've got "blood" from both peoples, but we're so closely related in terms of genetics, there really is no distinction - it's all in your head.

I'm Scottish, my Dad was Scottish, his dad was Scottish and dunno what his dad was. Further on than that and they're all Irish in my family.

I consider myself 'from Irish descent' but I'm Scottish, no two ways about it. I don't think of myself as Irish in any way tbh.

Sometimes supporting Scotland can be a struggle (aside from them being *) when you have numerous scummy huns on the park and numerous scummy huns in the stadium. I tend to watch Scotland games with other Celtic fans so I can enjoy the game without also putting up with hun pish that you get in a pub or stadium.

Not every Celtic fan has direct Irish descent from the past 20 years!

I am Scottish, was born in Scotland and will always see myself as a Scot, so that is the national team I support. In terms of club football, Celtic are my team and are close to my heart but that doesn't mean I don't have a sense of national pride. Just because people like McGregor and Naismith play for Rangers, doesn't mean they are any less proud to play for their national team and when they pull on the dark blue I will support them as part of the team.

I'm Scottish, only one person in my family history is Irish and that's a few generations back. Support Celtic because my dads side of the family is Celtic fans and he got me into football. I'd support Celtic over Scotland, hate people like Naismith and miller, regardless of them playing for scotland

some good points sir but irish and scottish arnt as geneticaly linked as some think, u dont see to many albino naismith types in ireland, its mainly the protestant people of ireland and thus mostly (but not exclusively) rangers supporters who have more genetically in common from the plantation of ulster etc.

as a foot note i dont want this thread getting on about religion etc because it will get nasty and celtic is a football club for all people regardless of religion or political background

Im scottish, so are my ancestors. To say the vast majority of celtic fans are of irish decent i think is not correct, but thats merely my opinion. Scotland as a nation was populated from ireland if you go back far enough in pre-history. I am nt a fan of international football at all, i agree with the post stating its nt what it was, champ league is best competition to watch.

I wasnt born in Scotland, i was born in Germany whilst my Dad was in the army. My whole family is Scottish and even though i didnt stay in Scotland for the first 10 years of my life i dont feel any less Scottish. I will support Scotland when they are playing and i will cheer on Rangers players, i really dont have a problem with that at all, i am Scottish, they are Scottish and i want them to win for our country.

My girlfriend was also born in Germany when her Dad was in the army, she is also a Celt that supports Scotland!

First off Celtic is a West of Scotland club with Scottish/Irish origins set up to put food on the tables of the poor people of Glasgow (particularly the East end). Said people were of all creeds the majority being Irish imigrants. A lot of people who support us today don't have any connection with Scotland or Ireland and just simply love what we stand for. I have Irish ancestry like everyone else on here but it is very well diluted and I consider myself predominantly Scottish. In addition most of my ancestors were Presbyterian.

I'm Scottish through and through and it doesn't matter what team a person plays for once they pull on the Scottish jersey. If they're playing for the country they obviously support the country. Imo you wouldn't play for something that you don't believe in and I will cheer them on.

I have no irish in me. I support Celtic because it just worked out that way. When Scotland play i leave everything else out of it and cheer on my country. People who can't seem to get over this really need to grow up.
