I've always been of the opinion that he was only signed to be backup in the first place and it was because of Zaluskas * performances at the start of the season he ended up first choice. Therefore I don't mind either way if we keep him as he has been consistently average most of the season but would rather get someone better if we had the option open to us. Given would be my first choice but after that not too sure who would be available to us :50:

Edit: I noticed a good few mentions of Westwood and - to be honest - I thought it was mostly because of FM and his being an Irish international by grandmother... then I saw this save :56:

Feel sorry for the big man but for some reasin I dont have 100% confidence in him! But he's been good and if we keep him I wont complain but would maybe look for a cheaper yet better alternative... Westwood maybe

For the record, I'd like to see Forster stay, but Newcastle seem be unwilling to sell or trying to drive his price sky high. While I think he's good now with the potential to be great, we can't afford potential right now. We need a proven keeper if the pricetag is high.

To be fair he's done a great job for us in the SPL with so many clean sheets.

I do worry at crosses some times as he never looks assured. Personally I'd go for another keeper who has the potential to also compete in Europe - I'd be worried about Forster in Europe unfortunately.

To be honest, I think Forster has done well this season behind a developing and new backline. However I feel that Newcastle will try and punt him for silly money like carroll, who is not worth 35 Million.
The obvious options are Given or Westwood, who should be signed in the summer on a free contract. His agent will be following the example set by Ledley, and waiting til the end of the season, so as not to upset their fans and concentrate on finishing well with their current club. Also to get as high a weekly wage as possible.

Get a new keeper in. I worry just about every time a cross ball comes in (he took a corner out the air against the huns and it was honestly the first time I can remember him doing so and taking the pressure of our defence). Decent stop gap but c'mon Celtic get Shay Given back!!

I would like to keep him but I think he'll cost too mcuh for a GK. Forster's form has been good this season, might no be world class yet, but he only has a couple of problems imo, mainy kicking the ball out. But he has 15 clean sheets this season and that alone is a top form. But I wouldn't be too fussed if we ended up with Westwood. He seems to manage to pull off some unbelievable saves and could be a good GK for us.
Since 2005 we really were spoiled with Boruc for a couple fo years, but we can't replace him. He was one of a kind and it's doubtfull we'll get a keeper just as good for quite some time. I just want a reliable keeper both on and off the park whether it be Forster, Westood, I don't know, but I'll be happy.

couldn't agree more. i noticed, especially during the Old Firm game when Mulgrew had to come across right in front of Forster to punt it away, he stays on his line at crosses as well. should be easily using his height advantage to punching them away.

in an ideal world i would want Shay Given. it's not that much of a pipe dream considering he will move in the summer. he is too good a keeper to stay on the bench every week. City won't sell to Man Utd or Arsenal. they're now too close a rival. he will of course have to take a wage cut, but i think he would to play for us.

i haven't seen Westwood play, so i cannot comment.

if we can't get Given, i would be happy if the club took a punt at Kasper Schmeichel. going into his last year of his contract at Leeds Utd and is a very grounded player. has potential and i think he would be a good success in the Hoops.

Get a 2 new keepers. Zaluska is *, Forster is 6 foot 6 or 7, and got lobbed by riordan, whilst standing in his 6 yard box this season. His kicking is the worst for a goalie that I have ever seen. Doesnt fill me with confidence

Someone mentioned Kasper Schmeichel earlier i would love to see this guy here an absolute talent in the making, he is everything Forster wants to be but more. If he was to join a team like Celtic i think his progress would flourish. Some other keepers names thats getting thrown about like Speroni would also make great additions. We need to start looking outside the box instead of bogging ourselves down with unrealistic signings like Given ect, there is no way on earth we could afford his wages.

He's a good keeper & still young. He will mature to become a good keeper.
But again, wouldn't mind if we can manage to get in maybe, Shay Given !!!
